I'm sure he just means like the stereotypical "80's" things. Not like "no good movies were made between 1980 and 1989"
I don’t generally care for the concept of guilty pleasures, but the first Breaking Dawn almost qualifies. That book doesn’t have enough plot for a short, let alone TWO movies, so Bill Condon really stretches it out overdramatizing every little thing and putting in unnecessary visual flourishes and it kinda makes for an enjoyably goofy watch.
I didn’t grow up with a lot of them and watched a bunch as I got older. Movies like Ghostbusters, Ferris Bueller, The Karate Kid, etc. are alright, but I guess I’d like them a lot more if they were from my era. @OhTheWater horror is the exception, horror is timeless haha
If anything the weirder users are the ones who weren’t on AP. How does one just come across Chorus these days
Like anything, 80s movies vary. Ghostbusters and Airplane! and The Breakfast Club are great. Flashdance and Footloose are really enjoyable as entertainment you don't overthink. The Karate Kid is good for some empty-calorie nostalgia. And then Porky's sucks.
Technically late '70s, but if you like '80s sex comedies but wish they leaned less mean-spirited, Meatballs is a very likeable one.
Sonny I was on AP well before you ever came out of whatever weird little internet hole you crawled out from
The 60s and 80s are only annoying in how much certain kinds of people jerk them off as the zenith of pop culture or whatever. I guess 90s kids do the same, but that’s usually specifically just about “kid” things, not culture generally
I have no idea how I found AP but I'm pretty sure it was linked to me by someone dunking on a shitty take I had when I was 12 lol
