i love Seinfeld stand-up. I've just heard the jokes far too many times at this point but i remember the first time seeing one of this specials and crying from laughing. but yes George is obviously the funniest one. His storyline threads are unbeatable. Elaine is probably the least funny by default? But Julia Louis Dreyfus makes the show what it is. Elaine working for Peterman is when she really took off
I read Jerry's book "Sein Language" during our middle school home room class. He had a joke about the word "Electrocution" and what's so cute about it that made me laugh so hard, the teacher made me leave the room.
Also being from Northeast Ohio, Jeff Schaeffer was viewed as a local hero when he took over for writing and producing for "Seinfeld" when Larry David left and despite making some of the worst comedies known to man, he's been able to fail up ever since.
The main four are all hilarious but I go back and forth on George or Elaine being the funniest. And I love all nine seasons and don’t think it fell off without Larry David. And I like Curb but don’t love it.
Seinfeld is my favorite sitcom, and I have seen maybe two episodes of Curb. I'm sure I would love it, I've just never gotten around to it.
Curb is super popular but Seinfeld is arguably the biggest and best sitcom of all time. Referring to legacy, ratings, critically, cultural impact, money, etc...
I wonder how a show like Seinfeld would do today when you throw away its original cultural impact of being one of the first shows of its kind. It's a good show, but there are plenty of modern comedies "about nothing" that are just as funny, if not funnier
Admittedly, I haven't watched Seinfeld since high school so I'm sure there's a lot I'm forgetting. But in terms of 90s shows, I always preferred Fresh Prince and Friends
Seinfeld is still hilarious. People might poke at a few things but it is a great comedy about the annoyances and absurdity of modern life.
I mean I think it’s very hard to divorce Seinfeld from the context of it being one of the first sitcoms of its kind, and the time period it came from. and I agree that it’s still inherently funny, which is why it’s stood the test of time
Seinfeld is the funniest show I've ever seen, or at least tied with always sunny I do know more people who prefer curb tho, just anecdotally
A lot of people cite The Simpsons as having a huge influence on them at a young age, but watching Seinfeld was very eye-opening to me. I did not understand half of the jokes but it was one of the first things I remember watching that questioned authority and why things are as they are. When you are a kid you are considered annoying if you keep asking why, but Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm are about questioning those practices we often silently accept and begrudgingly uphold.
Seinfeld is the best multi-camera sitcom. If you include single camera and animation it’s the Simpsons easily just for its peak.
