If I'm gonna watch a movie for style > substance I'll watch John Wick or even Prometheus (garbage movie but good lord it's pretty and I love how lived in Ridley Scott's worlds are). Drive? Puts me to sleep. But hey, that's just like, my opinion man ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I know I'm alone in this but my top Potter film is Deathly Hollows pt1. Loved almost everything about it, esp the artwork during the story telling of Deathly Hollows story.
Same. It's not like Drive had any action or anything to keep you interested, just non talking characters and no driving lol. John Wick and the sequel are so fantastic.
I just love all the story beats of it. The teacher dying above the villain table in the opening. the harry clone chase, escaping the wedding and the fight in the café right after, sneaking into the Ministry, I love it all. Its shot so beautifully.
I've seen three Inarritu films and didn't like any of them at all. He is talented. His films are flashy nonsense.
You have missed little. Amores Perros is okay, but the other five I have seen are various levels of bad. Babel will probably always be his worst, while the other ones are just silly.
Drive is style over substance, but it's still a great movie. Only God Forgives is even better. American Psycho is hysterical and a classic. The Prestige is great and is Nolan's best work for sure and the rest are okay to pretty good.
I don't feel like this should be as unpopular an opinion as it is, but Inception is hands down one of the best movies of the 21st Century and should be regarded as such. I suppose if you saw it once or only three times, you could accuse the movie of having thin characters or being convoluted in all the exposition (the main faults I read about). But having seen it now about 12 times, it is unbelievable how consistent the world Nolan creates is and how layered Cobb is written on top of Leo's super underrated performance. Obviously the movie looks freaking awesome, but it's also a movie with remarkable depth and it's a shame that few people recognize that. At least the people I talk to.
HAHAHA!! Oh man, that's perfect. I should've clarified I was blown away by Inception the first time I watched it. But there's so much to dissect in that movie it took me a few watches before the character development and acting hit me. I totally set myself up for that reference though.
If you loved it the first time, how can you suggest such a sadistic regiment for others when it was not needed for you? Once was more than enough.
I think the Sandlot is the only movie I've seen near 12 times, because I was a kid. Maybe It's a Wonderful Life, since we've watched it as a family multiple Christmases.
Haha. I wasn't suggesting people watch the film 12 times. Just suggesting there's more depth than you can possibly get on first watch. And I get something new with each watch, hence the 12 times. There are far more sadistic regimens.
The most I've seen of this and Miracle on 34th Street is walking by the television when it's on cable. At this point, I feel like it would be like watching Scream after growing up on Scary Movie
