I have probably said some version of it before. Generally it is an unimportant factor, but so many people cling to it. It would be better if more people stopped worrying about using it to justify their deeply-held opinions.
I've read all of the Harry Potter books twice, and seen the first three movies multiple times, and I still wouldn't call myself a Harry Potter fan
Gotcha, just curious if it was the movies specifically or if you really just didn't like HP in general
I read the first two books as they came out but when the third came out I kinda lost interest like halfway through. The movies are whatever I guess, I've only seen 5 of them and don't really care about seeing the others
My only experience with Harry Potter is the Universal rides. A girl that was with our group was in love with it, but she is only a year younger than me and that whole phenomenon never really took hold. We went from Power Rangers to Pokemon to Dragonball Z to smoking marijuana.
First HP movie's the worst one (great for introducing us to their world and little else), but even that's like a C+
Also, it has never once been funny when someone has yelled, "more cowbell!", and in protest to that, I have never once seen the "more cowbell" skit and it will stay that way until I die.
I love both and both are great movies so I'm fine either way. He's one of my all time favorites. He's even good in a lot of bad movies he's been in lately. I would say he's one of those actors that can make a movie, if you were to replace him from an ok movie it would usually turn to shit. Say what you will about six but five was one of the best! The 5th book was also one of the best. My heart.... Haha I finally meet someone else. Man, this movie is so bad. The look and cool aesthetic wears off fast and then it's just two dull characters who do not talk to eachother for 90 mins. The random super violence at the end rocks and is probably the only saving grace of this movie, but man.........how long can you watch two characters just stare at eachother and think "this is art" lol
Wow this is a great thread that I was unaware of until now. My biggest one is probably that I hate almost every Christian Bale movie other than TDK. It's not even that I think he's a bad actor, I just tend to hate movies that he's in.
The Big Short is another exception. Haven't seen Out of the Furnace, but I haaaaaaaaate American Psycho and The Machinist. The Prestige is another big one that I can't stand.
It's pretty much impossible for me to evaluate the HP movies as standalone movies and not compare them to the books cause I'm such a fan of the books.
How would everyone in here feel about a HP reboot? I think we'll see one in our lifetime honestly because of Hollywood. I think it'd be hard to cast some of the parts any more perfectly than they did, but now that all the books are out the movies could be more focused and leave out a lot of the filler stuff. Maybe even trim it down to 4 or 5 movies instead of 8?
You should check Out of the Furnace, it's pretty good. The Prestige is over rated IMO too, although its not a complete miss for Nolan like TDKR or Interstellar.
