Happy Define The Great Line Day, everybody. Ten years today! Nice little write up and video: I Hope To God You Feel This Now: UNDERØATH’s Define the Great Line, 10 years later - Features - Alternative Press
oh man, DTGL. that record was something else for me. helped me through some defining times in my post HS world.
My second year of college is when DTGL came out. I was really into this girl and one of the first times we hung out in her dorm, she played this. Never got to hook up, but I kept my love for that album.
DTGL came out during my sophomore year of high school. It got me into heavier music and that's when I started identifying more with the scene, started making new kinds of friends, and music in general just became a larger part of my identity.
Tim was just on the Urban Acheiver podcast and said they have about 2 minutes worth of an idea for a song, so not anytime soon.
Aaron just posted a preorder for a new album. Looks like it might contain some solo re-worked Underoath songs. Aaron Gillespie: Out Of The Badlands
I wish he'd do something with songs off DTGL and LITSOS; he stuck to TOCS on his solo tour too and reinventing your exit has always been a forgettable song to me. That said, I can't wait to hear these.
Everything about this is the exact same for my life haha. As for the new solo project/album, I truly dig this "lazy-hot-summer" vibe that I'm getting from the artwork and Raspberry Layer Cake. Anyone know which Almost song is sampled in that song? Stoked to hear Reinventing Your Exit because he kills that acoustically. He also mentions that this album was a healing process for his recent divorce.
That's awesome haha. I don't have an "UO saved my life or got me through x" story, but the album still hit a void I didn't know I had. One could say a created void..... As for Aaron, I'm usually not too big into lazy hot summer vibes, but RLC was a pleasant listen.
As much as I adore Disambiguation, I would be so ridiculously excited for a new Underoath album with Aaron. Hopefully they start writing soon.
I don't think this has been mentioned here yet, but Aaron has a pretty cool solo project coming out in August. I am jamming the whole UØ discography today. Stumbled upon my tour vinyl from their rebirth tour. I really wonder what these guys are up to right now. Like how the tour affected them. Playing that many songs in a night for a pretty long tour. Must have been exhausting but pretty exhilarating to have the amazing fan base and audience response. Hoping that positivity leads to a really killer album if they can link up timelines. I know it's not a full time band anymore, which is great. It allows them necessary time off. Just hoping we get a new album eventually with another US tour.
Ever since watching live videos from the Rebirth tour, I'm enjoying They're Only Chasing Safety more than I have in years.
His brother says he should pull through but still unconscious at the moment and has a tonne of bad injuries. Original Underoath, Maylene & The Sons Of Disaster vocalist Dallas Taylor airlifted to hospital - News - Alternative Press Fuck...
I just cannot seem to get into anything Aaron Gillespie does on the side (of Underoath). Only liked one or two songs from the entire The Almost era. And now this new album, Out of the Badlands, I'm still having trouble finding a song I want to come back to. Even the Underoath cover just is not very good.
