  2. Revisiting Voyeurist and it still rips. I’m also finally accepting that there’s a chance I find the upcoming album to be a downgrade, unless the unheard tracks really blow me away. We’ll see!

Yeah Voyeurist is such a good record.

I think I mentioned it in the other thread but Voyeurist did not end up having the staying power I hoped it would have. But the good songs on it are great, with Thorn being the definite standout with Pneumonia and Take A Breath not too far behind.

Also I do like the art of the new album more than the Voyeurist art personally

The new art is sweet and continues to be consistent with the current maximalist super modern metalcore/hardcore sound gaining popularity. Doesn’t even feel too out of line spiritually with their previous work with a dark surrealist element even if it is photography rather than graphics. Fwiw I thought the disambig and Voyeurist artworks were super boring and while I really like the image on erase me, it felt very generic. So this is a graphic return to form imo.

they are one of the most consistent modern bands with art direction imo. they never miss. Lost and disambiguation are my personal favorites but it always rules. they did the lime green thing years before it blew up on erase me.

That’s an insane lineup if it indeed UO. The 2 kings of 00s metalcore plus their most natural/spiritual successor (at least imo, limbs always gave me crazy good NJ vibes).

Underøath is pretty consistently my Friday-after-work-go-to. I threw on UØ shuffle after I got back from the gym and there was a couple Voyeurist songs that I think sonically could fit in LITSOS. I’m really happy with what we got from Voyeurist. I really haven’t listened to it in full in likely a year so I’ll need to get on that.

The “All the loooooveee is gooooooooooone” part has the same pitch or something from the All That Nickelodeon theme song and I can’t unhear it lol. Every new song has been rattling around in my head. I have only listened to them a handful of times but they’re all extremely ear wormy.

Been listening to voyeurist a lot to get in the UO mood before release. Damn Excuses really deserves to be a set staple for the foreseeable future. That whole second verse leading into “we’re so lost in…” is a GOAT Spencer moment. That and cycle are probably still my favorites.

  13. That and Take A Breath and are my favorites off the album. Soooo good

Maybe their best no fuss no frills down and dirty song. Killer set and album opener. On My Teeth was a big sigh of relief they still got it moment when I heard it, and when I heard Damn Excuses gave big time they aren’t going anywhere vibes.

I remember when OMT came out it felt like a big departure towards more straightforward and now it just fits into their discog seamlessly. Damn Excuses just turns Spencer’s vocals to 11 though.

  16. The surprise release for Damn Excuses and its immediate praise was the rare time where the forum was in unison for post-breakup Underoath

I normally despise this sort of cryptic, stunted-teenager post; but When The Sun Sleeps means a lot to me right now.

Funny how songs rebound on you.

I remember when I obtained the leaked copy of it (that I think was partially demos?) months prior before release back in the KaZaa days and being blown away by it. Don’t worry - I bought the CD on it's release day at the local Best Buy lol

Writing on the Walls and You're Ever So Inviting were my introductions to this band. I'd come back home after morning swim practice to eat lunch and MTV's Top 8 would be on. Either one of those music videos was on there daily that summer. Definitely a core memory.

i remember seeing the video for A Moment Suspended in Time on some sort of Christian rock music video channel as part of my family's satellite package. i didn't know (at the time) Christian bands could make music that sounded like that. dove fully into their work around the time of Disambiguation and the rest is history.

I can't remember exactly, but didn't it leak really early and the band said it was mostly incomplete, but then it turned out it was pretty much the finished version except the songs titles were mixed up and the leak sounded like shit? And I think it was missing some tracks, too.
