some people like the album and some people don’t, some of y’all are acting like this is the first album ever to create such a divide!
I just personally see a lot of hate that this record gets on multiple platforms and I would get it if people were like “ehhhh its not for me” but a lot of people act like this is the worst thing UØ could ever do which is just silly. That’s my take anyways idk
My take is that it’s by far their worst album and I’ve explained why multiple times here and in the album thread and the thread for the new album. It is “not for me” because to my ears it’s extremely bad and walks back every bit of progression they’ve made since Spencer joined the band and especially after LITSOS and more importantly to me Disambiguation, one of my top ten favorite records of all time and it seems 90% of what they did on that album was completely forgotten for a more boring, streamlined approach to straight up hard rock music that wouldn’t sound out of place on the main stage at ozzfest or your local heavy rock station, a style I cannot stand and never imagined underoath would fully lean in to.
But I don’t really care that people seem to enjoy it and I’m not running around saying “I don’t get how people like it” anytime someone says that they do lol, really do not care if people like it and some people seem to really care that people don’t, despite the fact that I’ve already said I love the new single and am excited about the band again
Maybe its just me but I prefer the live stuff they did last year to the recordings. So many songs have extra soul behind how they played them last year.
i mean yeah i didnt even touch on this but imo matt squire was a terrible choice for producer and his style sucked the life out of the songs, which were already pretty mediocre to begin with imo
I am glad that people like Erase Me. But it so pales in comparison to the three records before that it just falls flat for me as a whole. A few great tracks, but otherwise it’s still a pretty baffling comeback record to me. I wouldn’t have such a low view of Erase Me if I didn’t know what Underoath was capable of.
I don't like Disambiguation, but love Erase Me. The real point is that it sounds like everyone loves the new track and we have a lot to look forward to this album.
I'm the same regarding They're Only Chasing Safety. I tend to have a hard time listening to the original album these days due to Spencer's very monotonous performance.
I'm a month behind because life happens, and I don't think I'm entirely happy with what it ended up being, but I did get around to this: Underoath – Define The Great Line
Wow. Thank you for writing that. Seriously got choked up reading it. Define is more to me than a great album that I really enjoy. It's something more on an existential type of level, so this really hit home.
I don't write about music as much as I should, but if something moves to me to do so... it's pretty special. Glad that you've found some of the same special albums as me!
Underoath is teasing a new song if you’re on their email list. Haven’t been able to listen to the clip yet but I’m still stoked!
no it just says check your library for updates on when the music is released Saved! You've successfully Pre-Added on Apple Music. Check your library for updates when the music is released.
Getting TOCS vibes from that teaser. Very baseless and it's a phone call clip, but it kinda reminds me of the intro into It's Dangerous Biz.
I wouldn't mind Erase Me if with the good songs didn't come with some of the worst songs they have ever done. Rapture and Wake Me are terrible, and Bloodlust isn't far behind.
My buddy just had something mailed to him from Underoath Observatory. This website was down this AM but it’s up now and cryptic.
