Bumping for new page: Did anyone have the meet and greet? I'm going to the show on Wednesday and was wondering what the situation was like. I have 4 vinyl albums that I want to get signed and didn't know if you were allowed pictures and whatnot. Was it worth it? I know it involves sound check too. It's going to be a long day with meet and greet starting at 3 haha. Thanks for any insider info. That sucks about Aaron, I had a similar experience with him on his solo tour. It's really too bad.
Ours started at 3:30. They sound checked one song in full for us, and then came down to hang out. They said 15-20 mins but it was definitely longer than that, though they had to cut it when Caspian had to start their own sound check. I bought a poster at the show and had just enough time to get around and have a brief (1-2 mins) conversation with each member. Naturally the crowd was bigger for spencer and Aaron than grant and James. They signed stuff and allowed pictures, it was all very casual. After that they kicked us out until the official door opening, which was nice because you could grab food and leave stuff In the car.
Thanks for the info man. Did your show have any leftover vinyl? I heard they sold out already. Glad they are signing stuff. I'm really excited. I don't know what to ask ha.
They sold out weeks ago, unfortunately. Super bummed, knew it would have been a safer idea to bundle it with the tickets. I did get the $30 DTGL tour print and VIP laminate signed by every band member though, so that was a pretty decent trade-off.
We waited the longest in line for Chris Dudley by a long shot, and I'm still trying to figure out why.
I actually might sell mine. Size L. I'll probably wait until Wednesday to see their merch first though.
That's good then. I have the variant thankfully. Trying to get that signed. I wonder why they didn't hold specific amounts per date. I'm really excited for the show. I'm kinda nervous about it being sold out and waitin around all day and getting through their set. Was it pretty tiring? 21 songs plus Caspian's set. Really excited to see what these guys can do.
no prob, i spent a lot of time on the drive over wondering how the logistics would work, so i wanted to leave no detail hidden haha when they first came down, spencer had the biggest mob, but chris's line lasted the longest; everyone else had already left when i got to chris and there were a few after me.
The wait from 5-6:45 wasn't actually that bad at all. It gave us a chance to go eat/hydrate at a pizza shop down the road before the madness. You get to go in first if you're VIP anyway, so why hang around in a parking lot, you know? Caspian was about a half-hour. Honestly, not a bad idea to chill at the bar for them with a long island or something. Their music is very ambient, and we found not only was it more enjoyable to simply relax to and soak in, you'll need the energy for Underøath...their set is exhausting. The quality of their performance actually increased in ferocity during DTGL for us, and after a very energetic TOCS set, my older bones had trouble keeping up in the thick of it.
Yeah Underoath exhausted me, was brilliant but holy hell. I was at the front so that probably has a bit to do with it.
Thanks man! Interesting shirts. Wish there were more just plain band shirts rather than album shirts. Would still most likely get rid of mine since I have way too many shirts.
Hahaha wow, this answered everything perfectly. Thanks so much! I'm excited. Glad to know there's a break in between. I can give my records/stuff to my girlfriend and grab some food. I'm already carbo-loading for their set. So stoked!
I'm debating if I want to be in the bit in Atlanta or up on the balcony. I sat in the balcony when I saw Coheed last month and it was a welcome change of pace but of course lost some of the in the moment energy feel. But I also wasn't exhausted and covered in sweat. I have an exam fairly early the next day so maybe not the pit....
Went to the show last night. Absolutely insane. I had never seen Underoath before, and they just sound so in sync. I’ll summarize without giving too much away. I got the VIP experience which was great because I got all my records signed by the dudes and had a 3 minute conversation with each member. The VIP was a great experience because it was so relaxed and non-structured. Caspian came on around 7:30. My favorite lyric of theirs is “ “. All kidding aside, I had no idea they were an instrumental band, yet they fit in so well opening for Underoath. The first song they played blew me away. The last song they played was a quiet one and I felt bad because the entire crowd was talking over them, but then it kicked into high gear and they finished out in a really cool way. I was front row on the bar for Underoath. Right in front of Grant and James. Holy crap. This show was so well produced. I kept trying to sing along, but I kept smiling so big. It was just crazy seeing these dudes play so well. I can’t even pinpoint a favorite part of the night. Everyone knew every song and it was just a cool experience. I caught a pick from James and Chris gave me a setlist from the stage. My night was made. Their merch was pretty expensive so I figured I’d wait until it goes on sale after the tour is over. Like everyone else has been saying, there was no vinyl leftover. Crazy how steadily that 3,250 units sold out. I wish they had controlled that better so each date could have some.
At our show spencer asked the crowd how many people were at their first show and over half raised their hand. He was noticeably surprised haha, as was I. Lots of young faces too. Really good mix.
That first one would be "Darkfield" on their new album. If you ever catch a headlining set of theirs it gets so quiet, yet so loud lol I love Underoath for taking them out on this tour. It's gonna be great for them. Underoath was unreal though. I saw once in 2008 and once on Warped 09 and the difference between those shows and now is so noticeable. The band put so much work in to make a great show and it paid off so well.
