Yeah, like, I recognize that it’s technically the worst of their last four but it’s easily the most listenable for me and therefore my favorite lol. The rest are about even for me.
TOCS still has some solid songs (Boy Brushed Red and Reinventing Your Exit) but as a whole I feel it did not age as well as their other albums.
The only thing that I don't think aged well in TOCS is Spencer. His voice is a lot better than it used to be. The song structures and melodies still sound good.
Reinventing has never really gripped me, i think it’s the odd one out on the album. Content, Young, and Impact, however, are so so good.
mewithoutYou, La Dispute and Pianos Become The Teeth are still my top 3. Thrice and this round out my top 5. Then soccer mommy.
I'm going to try to make a concerned effort to get into disambiguation this week. It's not on apple music here haha
I never got into Disambiguation. I've heard it's great but without Aaron it won't feel like Underoath to me.
I've unfortunately not been able to get into it either. It's not necessarily the absence of Aaron for me, it just wasn't my kind of style compared to the three albums that came before it.
it's a really dark piece of art, but they definitely went for it in a few places and really nailed it in my opinion. I suggest giving it another try.. you sort of have to like other dark styles of rock to get into it, its got more metal, and definitely more of that Nine Inch Nails type of sound at times.. but its also cool that they did a song like driftwood which almost sounds like their version of Radiohead. I expect them to expand on the LITSOS sound while maybe using both Aaron and Spencer for cleans.. Certainly will be interesting. I just know they are great musicians and will put out a great product, I don't care what sound they go for.
