There is no "whole album" collaboration. We addressed that in this thread. It was one song, and there absolutely have been examples, especially of new bands, being told by their label to collaborate with particular people on a song or two. Just trying to give the benefit of the doubt until we know otherwise.
Really disappointing the things these guys are doing recently. I’ve stopped listening to their stuff and generally don’t care to listen to it again. Their general attitudes just kind of suck. Shame
got it, I thought the other band was being referred to who do have Jonny on every song, I think my wires were just getting crossed
Well that's what we've been discussing if it's an error or not. If you look at their discography on Spotify, "Buried" was the last song to be added to the EP and it's the one with Craig on it. The other songs don't have that distinction in previous versions. I'm leaning toward someone fucked up when adding the last song.
I guess the easiest way to settle this is to listen to the songs and see if Craig's on it, but who wants to do that?
still my favorite of theirs, all of the recent shitshow aside. Daniel's drums, Spencer being on his own for the first time, the heavy lean into industrial elements.
Paper lung and who will guard the guardians are jams. The build of softer and heavy parts are real good.
believe it or not, this was my first Underoath album. holds a special place in my heart. wish they'd make another like this.
I'm right there with you—totally wild experience. But it's my favorite, and it's still insane that it topped their earlier stuff, DTGL in particular. Will be good to have on wax. Might tell my kid it was their last album
what’s more shocking, that they acknowledged it or that they pretend it’s not far and away their heaviest lol
Disambiguation and LITSOS are the peak of UO's wild creativity and innovation as a band IMO. The post reunion stuff is solid, but I will always have a soft spot for the risks they took and the wild stuff they did. Love Daniel's drum parts on Disambiguation and the vibe he brought. Would have loved one more record from that lineup before the hiatus or at least an EP with 2-4 songs tacked on to their announcement at the time.
We did get Disambiguation and the two singles they put out after when they announced their breakup, Unsound and Sunburnt. but I agree, I loved that lineup. I wished they did a lot more together. Daniel wrote some really creative, interesting drum parts on that record.
I wouldn't say they're washed as I still love Voyeurist, which I found to be a big improvement on Erase Me, but a lot of their recent shenanigans have colored my perception of the band. I'm not even looking forward to the new album which... I wonder when it's going to be announced? The first single is close to one year old.
I have a soft spot for Erase Me because i was at festivals a lot for work in that era and saw them a handful of times on that touring cycle. Voyerurist was not my cup of tea and i am not loving the new songs either. Excited for an announcement that they’re doing a record with a proper producer again. I think they do better with someone taking all the wild energy and distilling it with them. I thought the headliner they did with demo listening parties was super rad. Not my favorite era from them, but they still seem very invested in putting out their best efforts this late in their career. I think they have another brain melter left in them.
