Aaron is also the same guy who was saying in interviews that he was punching his leg so hard that he was visibly bruising himself during an argument with Spencer about how Spencer was singing more still on Erase Me and Aaron was having a full on identity crisis within the band because he wasn’t singing as much as he used to lol Dude seems like a weird guy
I know. I just can't wrap my head around it. I was so excited when they got back together, and while I didn't like Erase Me as much as I wanted, it was a step in the right direction. Then Voyeurist came with Digital Ghost and I loved that album. I thought this band was firing on all cylinders, then slowly but surely they've been making some awful decisions as of late. I'm legit curious where this band will end up by the end of the year.
Aaron kicked Dallas out because he had a child out of wedlock, which was actually a play to get complete control of the band, dude is a snake.
I've been involved with bands that opened for The Almost and a solo run Aaron was doing with other artists. I can confirm from both experiences that Aaron was a very unpleasant person to be around. Your milage may vary.
not entirely the same, but my experience meeting Spencer during the No Fix tour was somewhat unpleasant. maybe there was something else going on, but he seemed genuinely uninterested in being there and came across as somewhat cold when i talked to him. conversely, Tim was genuinely super nice.
I'm sorry you had that experience. I'm all for giving people the benefit of the doubt, but when interactions are so sour years apart from each other.. its difficult to have a different perspective of someone.
Aaron can be cold for sure but the time I met Spencer - he was super sweet. Everyone has bad days but it sucks when you get caught up in it when you’re trying to say hi to an artist you love.
I've met them a couple times. Got weird vibes from Aaron. spee and tim were super nice. james was the nicest of all them.
Yep. Feel terrible for James. As someone who hasn't personally tracked with them musically post-reunion, this really solidifies that they're not the same band I used to love.
Feels weird they still haven't posted anything yet. I'm so used to dramatic line up changes where both parties post their side one after another, idk
https://www.reddit.com/r/Underoath/..._app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1 Post from James’ wife. He was booted three days before the tour started and she said anything about him needing “personal time” is bullshit.
I just don't get why this would be necessary at this point. I think it was pretty clear for a long time that Grant and James weren't really writers for the band. If James wanted to keep touring and going on as is, why kick someone of 20 years out?
If you’re gonna sell your soul for an awful tour, guess you want to keep more of the profits? That’s my literal only guess.
Yea the complete silence to everything now from the tour + aftermath and now this....I just checked their Twitter and they even still list his name in the bio. Fuckin' wack, love this band but hate this trend they've been going on.
On their recent podcasts, they had given us the impression they were finally past the days of endless infighting and that this version of the band was the most honest and healthy. This seems to contradict all of this. What's getting me is that cold, sad reminder that bands often end up being more of a business, with all the caveats, than genuine friends.
The only time I met Aaron was after an Almost show, and it was not one of my favorite interactions. I was also wearing a Maylene shirt, so he probably didn't vibe with me from the beginning haha
I've only ever heard that story relayed as Dallas being kicked out because he was going through relationship problems and he was a bit miserable on his last tour. I don't think he had a kid at that point.
Not trying to defend anyone cause it seems like it is a pattern here, but I've never taken musician interactions personally. Can't imagine the type of mood I'd be in after spending 10+ hours with 5 other people in a van or bus, probably been a minute since a good shower, too.
While I personally don’t think the band is going downhill (I love the new single and thought Voyuerist was some of their best work in a very long time) - I do think they would be foolish to not address this openly as James was around for 20 years. The optics ain’t looking too good. Am I going to stop listening to the band? Nope. Am I still disappointed in their messy actions? Yup.
I can’t believe they didn’t get ahead of James with a statement. Now they either ignore it which is terrible, they post something and lie or they post something that’s true but inevitably highlights a toxic situation. Really poor PR basically.
