Really hope we get an EP of some sort eventually. The one new demo they showed was an absolute RIPPER. Tim had said it was really up to them with what they want to do with future releases: release as singles, do an EP, save it all for a full album. They really have no pressure on them and Aaron mentions it in that interview as well. Can tell that certain touring parts really get to him. I've noticed that he seems to like just playing the songs and gets impatient when Spencer talks too long to the crowd.
Saw them last night in Sacramento and they absolutely killed it. I wish I got VIP tickets, but hopefully they do something like that next time. New EP or album in the next year would be great. I love the direction that they are going with from Let Go. Being able to self produce and just release music without any type of pressure must be really cool for them.
Was really contemplating going to the wheatland show but Thursday nights are tough for me. Glad to hear it was a good show. How was the venue?
The venue was actually really cool! A lot of space and people could sit or go to the floor as they wanted which was really cool. I would definitely go there again even though it's kind-of out of the way for me.
I was on the fence about Denver and ended up not going. The VIP is so rad, and I am really excited about whatever they put out next. Glad the experience at the shows has been killer.
I also got to chat with their sound guy, JJ, a little bit. I've heard him on podcasts and some interviews so it was cool to say hi! He seemed stoked that someone recognized him haha
Well well well. Between this and the band's overall unwillingness to drop off that upcoming tour with Falling In Reverse, it may be time for me to reconsider my fandom of this band. Obviously, there's two sides to every story, but I've had an uneasy feeling since they've been so quiet regarding the tour controversy. Sucks cause I have so many records and tshirts I wear regularly of theirs. What a bummer. I've loved this band for so long and I'm not sure we'll get to hear the circumstances regarding James's departure.
Yeah, I doubt they’re going to want to get into why he was ousted. I’m still a big fan of this band (Spencer’s overall sincerity goes a long way with me) but I could see how people are feeling some type of way about their recent actions.
What the hell? This is such a slap in the face. He better get royalties forever (in some way/shape/form) on the past releases. So odd. When I asked where he was on the first date of the tour, I received a lot of weird skirt-around answers. EDIT: Damn, this is upsetting me more than it should be.
I was actually thinking about the post you made when I was writing mine. I remember that. Something just seems shady here. James was always a quiet one and I was under the impression they were all getting along great. This just hits differently for some reason.
Huge bummer, although to be fair it isn't surprising. Since the interviews surrounding Erase Me, the way Aaron and Spencer have spoken about him and Grant sort of paints them as just "touring members". They've solidified on many occasions that the writing comes from Spencer, Aaron, Chris and Tim. Not to get into rumor or hearsay territory but I could imagine the four main writers would have wanted to cut down royalties or payment due to their supposed limited roles, which of course I doubt would have ended well for all parties.
Wow. Like I don’t know him at all, but it seems like he gel’d well with the group. I did always find it odd that all writing credits(as mentioned above) were never with James or Grant. They quietly were just apart of it and seemed all good to go. Grant especially - James def was very to the side in my oberservations.
I’m not sure how much James or grant ever really did towards writing, but it seemed like the last few years cut that to 0, albeit amicably and mutually desired. Someone on Reddit said James is an accountant and it may be that he’s having the toughest time committing to full time UO work. feels weird to see so many words from James - wonder how much more will trickle out.
If it’s as simple as that then the band didn’t make the correct move as they should have gotten ahead of it. Otherwise, people are just going to speculate since James IG post sounds like he got the boot without a warning ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Either way, it’s a bummer just to see a member gone after 20 years.
