I feel like you’re implying that their decision to tour with, arguably, the most infamous person in the scene shouldn’t be met with any level of criticality..is this where we’re at?
It’s just pointless ultimately, like yeah I understand why people are upset but if you’re not gonna go, then eh? Sorry to hear that? Like you’re adults, don’t support them if they’re gonna do that.
I really respect the honesty, but I can’t help but feel bummed that Aaron’s essentially playing Underoath music for the paycheck now. Gonna pretend I didn’t read that or rationalize you caught him on a bad day instead.
I also gotta think there’s more context here we are missing. Matt from Emery says he never listens to their records after making them too, but he loves making them. I’d think Aaron still likes creating the music it’s just not something he reaches for when listening, which seems like he has limited time to listen to stuff he isn’t working on anyway.
In every interview or podcast I see with Spencer or Aaron, it seems like they are incredibly passionate about making Underoath music, even if it isn’t in the genre they listen to anymore. As a newer fan (I found them through Voyeurist) I HOPE they continue making music forever. They became my favorite band over the last year.
One interesting thing, I’ve seen underoath eat a lot of shit for this tour, but don’t see anyone criticizing spirit box, why is that?
Spiritbox is taking the heat too. Maybe even more so given that they spoke up against DGD and their terrible behaviors only to sign on for this tour.
where are you looking? the entire twitter thread that spiritbox posted is full of hurt and outrage. it looks like the underoath one is a lot more positive. and on this website, i think the accountability thread was full of negativity towards both of them.
i mean my initial comment was because i think the bands billed higher than UO are doo-doo "musically".
Hearing rumors that Spiritbox has dropped from the tour. Your move, Underoath. It’s going to really sour my opinion of this band if they stay on the tour.
Just catching up on this situation after seeing Jason’s weekly email. Never heard of the headliners but hugely disappointing that Underoath would associate with someone like that.
