A little late. The song is objectively great, but it is not my cup of tea. The opening riff gives me some major In regards to myself. Whatever the sound sample is in the opening part of the song is from Desperate times. The radio rock chorus sounds very much like a natural progression from the last album.

A lot of Erase me was fine, but the good stuff was top-tier modern UO for me (On My Teeth, No Frame, I Gave Up) I liked the last one and I do think it is building to some peak Underoath, but I do hope they bring a producer in again after another album or two of meandering new sounds with the band. I connected the least with Vouyeurist of any release. Again I think it is good, it just isn't appealing to me personally compared to most of their albums. I firmly believe they still have some of their best work ahead of them. It is fun to see their career evolve. Also I think the newer songs add a lot to the setlist live.

I do wish they'd play more Voyeurist stuff because some of that stuff would CRUSH live.

Also, the demo version of Let Go was missing a lot of pieces that made it on the actual song. Like the bridge, breakdown, Chris' atmosphere, all were missing. Very happy with what we ended up with.

EDIT: In terms of the FIR tour, I am missing out. I'd only really want to go for Oath and they aren't playing in my city anyway. Hoping we get an EP announcment this summer followed by a fall tour

OH. A huge thing I talked with Aaron about during VIP:

He doesn't listen to Underoath or similar bands at all. He barely even listens to Oath's test presses or final recordings. He says he doesn't have time to and it's not really his style of music anymore and doesn't really have the desire to.

He makes music that people like, but he doesn't like it himself. He said he's so busy doing studio stuff for other people writing, recording, that he never has time to really listen to music itself as a joy. Thought that was super interesting.

Insane to me that UO AND spiritbox are under INK - had no idea they were that big. Feels wild to see UO and SB only on the third line of a scene tour.

the ongoing “do spencer and Aaron even like what they’re doing?” saga always makes me feel sad lol

Yeah it always makes me feel like he could leave at any point like "walking on eggshells" type beat. Truly enjoying this post-reunion UO so I'm hoping we have them forever.

Aaron being sorta checked out is unsurprising to learn about

I think they like it, but you don't get to choose which musical outlet holds the most weight, legacy, and brings in the most income. Can you imagine being defined in your career by what you were passionate about when you were 18? They look like they are enjoying themselves a lot when they write and when they perform. It's very normal to be psyched about other genres and wish your fans were also excited.

  11. cares enough to want to go out on tour with Ronnie Radke though apparently

Speaking of checking out, I was very bummed I had to cancel my trip to see em in Huntington but the setlist was as underwhelming as they come, save for playing the new song.

I’ll always see em if it’s feasible, and we talk about it every time they tour, but for a headlining tour well removed from the album cycle, i expected at least a little better. Pleasantly surprised damn excuses has become a staple though.

I think it’s rather funny that people wanna be outraged over UO touring with FIR as if they NEVER toured with similar bands or been on similar tours in the past.

  14. I've never been anything else than an extremely casual fan and well, propping up someone like Radke in 2023 is a terrible look

    Weird gotcha post

Anyway, I've largely stopped paying attention to this band since they've been content with putting out dogshit since their reunion, but it's pretty tough to avoid seeing a tour announcement with Falling In Reverse

Voyeurist and the new song are great. I understand people not digging butt rock vibes of erase me but… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (I also enjoy erase me but I understand why people hate it)

I’m not gonna sit here and shit on them for wanting to get more exposure in a musical landscape that’s pretty rough for their genre right now.

    “Wanna be outraged.”

okay, man. It’s not that we feel that way, it’s just that we want to. Can’t imagine why there’s no accountability in the scene.

I hate Radke lol, so much that if he died, I wouldn’t care and I’m very sure you wouldn’t either.

I’d argue that the genre is stronger today than it’s been in years… it’s not like UO was some second-rate opening act, either. There’s just nothing in my mind that can even remotely justify opening for this band.

Maybe it’s because FIR is still a popular band despite their bad music and there is financial incentive to play their tour when you’re a bunch of dudes in your late 30’s/early 40’s playing stuff that is still not commercially viable 20 years after your peak? Like come on, it’s obvious why they decided to do that tour.

Like don’t go, don’t give them your money. That is EASILY the most simple thing you can do in this situation.
