Wild to think this is about 2.5 months away. I assume an album announcement follows this tour with a summer release date and huge tour. Thinking a double-headliner type thing. Also digging the fact that we're getting new oath less than 2 years since the last album. Would really appreciate these dudes getting on a 2-year ablum cycle and filling my library with UO.
Yeah wondering if they announce an album during or shortly after, jump on some giant coheadliner, or direct support, and then do a headliner once the album is out in Summer or Fall. It would be great if they push out a couple albums in the next 5 or so years. Vouyerist was great, but it felt to me like building to a big musical breakthrough.
I hope I can finally catch them next year. It saddens that out of my favorite groups, and non favorite ones even, they're one of the very few who rarely come to this side of Europe for non festival shows. Germany, Netherlands or Belgium are the closest they've been to where I'm from but they haven't played these countries since 2017, 2018 or 2019 respectively. From what I'm seeing on setlist.fm, they last played in France in 2017 and last did a typical (from what I'm used to when looking up other acts) European tour with multiple German venues in a row... in 2011. I don't know if they've mostly been focused on the US since their reunion or if they never really made waves over here but I'm starving!
Pandemic restrictions an perception of Americans I imagine plays a HUGE part of that. A lot of bands have also expressed it can be very expensive to tour in Europe so festivals are usually the best way to go. I think 2023 could see the resumption of pre-pandemic touring.
I love seeing overlap in the fandoms like this. It's neat seeing how diverse some people's musical preferences are. I'm all over the place as well.
Similarly related to diversity, tonight 4 years ago was the Anberlin reunion show with Underoath in Tampa. Flew from DC to catch the secret Anberlin show the night before and then saw the tour the next day. Was so fun.
This is having a great late year push for me, really hoping we get digital ghost on streaming next year!
Are we sure it’s a new song and not one of the unreleased/demo songs? it sounds new, but when Spencer’s IG post said to turn the volume up I assumed that’s what it would be. Regardless, seems like a missed opportunity to not release the VIP songs at some point yet I don’t feel confident they will.
i feel like it has to be a demo of some sort but i also know they have talked about making more music as well so who even knows. i’m just hoping for more than 4 new songs this time!
It sounds like a demo to me of a new song. They said the listening party would have a mix of new and old stuff in demo form.
Yep that's what I assumed as they're also going to let fans hear some of the new stuff they've been working on.
Still on the fence about VIP tickets. I feel like the listening party will be super rad, but I am not very familiar with the other bands on the tour.
Recently been checking out Periphery since I'm going to one of the shows and I like their most recent album! Not my favorite, but it's pretty good. I haven't checked Loathe out much yet but I plan to soon.
I was surprised how damn expensive it is. When I saw it on Ticketmaster I thought they were resale tickets (in part bc I think this is the first time the VIP was not it’s own sale)
