I get why people do not like that album. I was working at festivals at the time and saw their set a lot while they were touring on it, so it is more of an emotional connection for me. Would love an entire album or an EP of No Frame style songs. One of my favorites live from them ever. (Also yes to the Dismemberment Plan cover image I haven't thought about that album in a very long time)
I think I would go Voyeurist DTGL Erase Me LITSOS Disambiguation TOCS Honestly, LITSOS, Erase Me, and Disambiguation are all pretty tied, depending on what my mood is. I adore Erase Me, even though I get why a ton don't. I love how varied a lot of Underoath's albums are though. I can put them on at basically any mood, and it works. Been listening to them a ton this year and it's been great.

I feel like I probably did a ranking earlier in the the thread, but here's where everything stands now: LITSOS Disambiguation Voyeurist Define The Great Line Erase Me They're Only Chasing Safety The Changing of Times Cries of the Past Act of Depression
Two things: 1) *virtual high five* 2) I flip flop between those two as well! Really depends on my mood so for now it’s LITSOS
My ranking fluctuates but it’s definitely LITSOS, DTGL, Voyeurist in the top three. Disambig and TOCS right behind that. TOCS would be higher, but has aged a bit for me outside the singles. Regardless, I discovered that LITSOS is the perfect Friday album. Be it: just getting home from work, or pregaming a Friday evening, or just chillin on a Friday with nothing to do the next day, it just rings out as FRIDAY for me.
Underoath is one of those bands where every ranking feels reasonable. Such varied but consistently strong records front to back.
i feel this a lot in general with regards to scene bands who largely play within the same sounds - feels inevitable that some of the magic is gone I’ve long thought that if UO went away from metalcore they have to go all in on the atmospheric stuff so we don’t miss the screaming and sludge.

Define The Great Line Voyeurist Lost In The Sound Of Separation Disambiguation Erase Me They're Only Chasing Safety I've listened to their pre-TOCS albums once each and that's it.
I haven't even tried listening to an album before TOCS. And even TOCS, I think I've only listened to it a handful of times.

It's awesome to see all the love for Disambiguation. I hope they eventually do a live stream playthrough. Honestly, nothing would get me more excited than a tour of LITSOS and Disambiguation front to back.
DTGL is my fav, LITSOS probably second, but I always then struggled to choose between TOCS/disambiguation/erase me/ Voyeurist. They all scratch vastly different itches. Erase Me is probably pretty reliably last but mostly for what it’s not, rather than actually being bad. The musicianship is still great and it’s arguably their best sounding record. Plenty of top tier tracks there.
I should really try listen to this. LiTSOS and Disambiguation are my faves but I really didn't like Erase me.
