I listened to this last night. This interviewer gets the spiciest takes from Aaron. Such a good deep dive on the Rebirth, Erase Me, current eras. Reminded me of the Twitch album play-throughs.
I like this album a lot. I’ve been playing it almost every day since last Friday and the songs are seriously great.. but the production low key sucks. I think it would hit a lot harder if the mix was corrected and it was mastered properly but there is like NO low end or maybe just not enough for me idk. Crossing fingers for Digital Ghost.
I really have no problems at all with the production and mix. And think Chad Howat is very good at what he does, pretty sure he was nominated for a grammy for engineering. Oh, and I miss Paper Route.
+1 on not loving how the album production sounds on headphones. There are some songs that sound better than others, though. Numb sounds pretty good
Take a breath is the massively heavy shit that made disambiguating rock so fucking hard, glad a song like that is on this record
Feel pretty comfortable saying this is my favorite album from them (not the biggest fan of their past stuff outside of some scene nostalgia). I just love the entire palette they're pulling from sonically and it feels so different song-to-song, which has been a big gripe with this band for me in the past. Not a weak part on this thing.
The switch up halfway through pneumonia is a real o’brother moment. right at the 3 minute mark and then that baritone riffing away behind the atmospherics. huge chefs kiss moment sorry I’ve been listening to this album every day and new things are hitting me every time
That song is such a wild ride. Would love to hear about the writing process because I feel like they go through 4 different themes and emotions throughout it.
Playing through Erase Me for the first time in a while, and the highs on it are great but the lows (Wake Me, ihateit) are awful. Voyeurist takes those highs and mixes them well with Disambiguation and Lost really well This. Between Chad doing this and JT working on PVRIS stuff, happy for them all
Any idea who the new support is that will replace ETID? Im assuming Spiritbox will get bumped to direct support and someone else will take over the opener spot
static dress would be cool since they get so many comparisons to older uo and theyre about to put out their debut in the spring, and i also back all the ppl hoping for alexisonfire bc theyre one of the greatest live bands there is
I've done a complete 180 on this since my first listen. I don't know why I was so down on it initially, but man, it's only gotten better with every listen since.
Just did my third listen and am very happy with this. Love how subtle yet heavy Tim gets on this esp I’m Pretty Sure and Pneumonia
Get extents of the “journeys” they take us on with each song is epic. Aaron singing more helps a ton here with the depth of the songs. Dynamics between him and Spee is ridiculous in Thorn. If I don’t here that song live I will throw a FIT. My most recent days have included hearing this in full and I’m pissed if I can’t make that happen. If we got a full album of “Thorn” type songs, I think people would believe in Underøath 2022. This album is top 3 for me easily. Chris shines here. Tying the songs together it’s just too good. I got what I wanted I’m a happy boy. Edit: Pardon my drunken ramble.
Oh. My vote changed. We know that they are playing Damn Excuses Hallelujah I requested Numb and Take a Breath but I’d Take a Breath gave way to We’re All Gonna Die, I’d be a happy Champy.
I think this album sounds weird when listening with speakers but awesome fucking incredible when listening with headphones. Like it has too much reverb and not enough impact. Hard to explain. Will check out Digital Ghost when the download is available to compare, as I held out until release. Also I applaud how little gain there is on the lead guitars. Very twangy. and huge yes to everyone saying Thorn should've been a single. What a banger. Like harder Saosin. Generally, for someone like me who is more into poppier Underoath, this might be my favorite release by them so far. (I think my fav UO song might be No Frame)
Does anybody want my Underoath tickets for 3/17 in New York City? I was only going for ETID and now that they are done I have no interest in going. Paid 100$ for the pair but willing to part for 80$, cheers have fun.
My copy hasn’t arrived yet, but there is a listing on eBay of the test pressing and it appears to be a marbled color? UNDEROATH - VOYEURIST **TEST PRESS** LP Color Vinyl | eBay
I think the vocal harmony between Aaron and Spencer, leading into Spencer screaming over Aaron near the end of "Numb" is one of my favorite vocal moments in the band's entire career.
