We’re All Gonna Die is very quickly becoming one of my favorite tracks from this upcoming record. If they’re able to match the atmosphere and intensity on record like they did with Digital Ghost - we’re in for a treat. So hyped for the vinyl now!
That was awesome. Thorn & Pneumonia were my favorites. It was only one listen, but Erase me was them reconnecting and throwing everything at the wall that interested them, this album feels like a return to form and building towards a record that rivals LITSOS and DTGL. Also, Aaron's vocals on this album were notably amazing. Spencer did an interview after his solo single came out and said everyone has since let out all of their creative interests in other things and this record is much more of a proper UO album. I agree and I also love all of their other projects. I am excited about this release and it will be cool to see what songs make the setlist from this album. People gripe about Erase Me, but IMO it is an incredible example of a band coming back post-hiatus and trying new and exciting things musically. I saw their Tampa show at the arena and 3-4 times at festivals during the Erase Me era. Those songs are incredible in the setlist and add a ton of diversity to the show. Overall Digital Ghost was another example of UO doing their own thing in their own way and crushing. Going to play it back a couple of times while getting some work done today. Looking forward to the proper album release to be familiar with the songs.
Thorn was incredible, I’m so interested to hear how the recorded versions stack up cause these have such a huge feel to them in this setting
This was very well done. There is waaayyy too much production on vocals though. Either way, very excited for album.
I don't think so. The only non-Underoath person showing up in the credits for the singles is JJ Revell, who is also The Almost's current drummer.
Finally got to watch Digital Ghost. After just not being into Erase Me.... this was phenomenal. The only track that stuck out was the second one (Hallelujah? I think?) as the hook was just a bit clunky. But overall, what a return to form. There's a real darkness here I don't quite think I've heard from anyone since Disambiguation. Really excited to sink my teeth into the full studio album. Also, production value here on the visuals was insane. Props to the band and crew for taking this to the next level.
If you buy a ticket you can get the digital download too! It doesn't get released until the album is out but at least you can watch it then.
Hey WE'RE ALL GONNA DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIE WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE TO PRAY, FOR ME MY FRIEND I THINK YOU'RE FUCKING FAKE HEY WE'RE ALL GONNA DIIIIIIIIIIIE DON'T PRETEND TO BE ALIIIIIIVE What a hook
The Europe / UK stream still got a few hours left so I just managed to cram in a second watch. Got to say the Thorn -> Pneumonia run is relentless. I really can't wait to read everyone else's reactions about the unreleased songs once the album is out.
I'm Pretty Sure I'm Out of Luck and Have No Friends is so insane in the second half, I just listened to that part of the livestream like 4 times on repeat.
Cut up the video into mp3s, gonna play this so much I’ll probably ruin the actual album for myself before I hear it.
On the Q&A, they talked about how the "how much of this is real or fake?" question played into the concept of the livestream. They actually did 3 or 4 takes for the instruments live in a practice room together, while Aaron and Spencer did the vocals in 1 or 2. Then they took the best parts of each and mixed them up. Afterwards, they spent I think a little bit more than one day shooting the concert and the visuals. I think I remember Spencer saying something akin to "That 14 hours shooting was one of the most grueling things we've ever done" at some point. There were some interesting tidbits about the album as well. The album title came up in the middle of the writing sessions a couple years back. They started tracking it 1 year and a half ago, and the recording sessions lasted throughout the second half of 2020. It sounds like they must've been sitting on it for a while. edit: I think I also remember Aaron saying that they actually didn't try to recreate (No Oasis), and that it's the studio version that we heard for that one.
Hoping the stream gets released in some form after the album comes out. I didn’t buy in because of poor timing with my schedule. Would love to see/hear if it though.
It says sale ends in 30 mins for the replay. If I buy it now could I watch it say, tomorrow? I got screwed with ETID's TIDathon because I bought a ticket and started watching 5 mins before it went offline and it just stopped fucking playing.
Unfortunately, I think you won't be able to play it once the replay ends. It was only up for 24 hours after the stream
Dammit. I’m hoping I can find it. Was completely busy literally all Friday and Saturday out of good cell service and worked today late.
If you purchase any of the non-North America options (even if that's where you are) it'll still be available for a little while. I still have 3 and half hours left on my UK stream purchase. But I do think it will go away when the time limit is up, even if you are watching.
