I think it’s pretty awful and sounds awkward, forced even. Just really rough and underwritten. Half baked ideas sloppily produced.
finally got to spin this...... i'm not sure what to think of it. the production on these new songs has either been somewhat abrasive (And Then There Was Nothing), or just so unorthodox that i can't really clasp onto it as much as i'd like (the other two songs). genuinely don't know how to feel about this album other than my expectations probably aren't gonna be as high as i thought they'd be.
The Digital Ghost version of Hallelujah definitely hits a lot harder in particular. Like, the album version is fine on its own but I love how much more power the main guitar riff has on the Digital Ghost version because it's not super audible on Voyeurist
i like everything on digital ghost more pretty much. the nasty low spencer drops on the third "fade away" in out of luck is one of the sickest things ive ever heard him do
I'm genuinely curious if there is anyone who would disagree with this. To me DG is a miles better listening experience
Seconded, same with the last scream he does before Aaron comes in with his cleans. It sounds so much nastier than on the album
Digital Ghost is for sure the better version of the record but they messed that up when they officially released it but cut out the interludes :(
I actually feel so bad for Aaron knowing how bad his anxiety is and reading fans shitting on him daily. Literally my greatest fear about this band ceasing to exist. One day will be the last straw. I mean the money will prove otherwise, but people are such dicks. I get not enjoying a song, but I’d be damned if I ever tagged a band in something being like “hey there! Your shit sucks!” I know Reddit is a different case in that it’s a public forum and whatnot but still.
Finally got around to listening to Survivor's Guilt, honestly I think most of it is decent enough. I just don't super care for the chorus outside of the last half time one, which is a shame. A better chorus would have done wonders for it. And Teeth is still alright, just wish the production on the chorus especially was better. Both songs the chorus is my problem with it haha
Finally checked out "Survivor's Guilt." This would've been in the top half of Voyeurist for me, but I'm less high on that album than most. It feels like Underoath. But I also don't think without 16 live shows and being a fan for twenty years I would ever listen to it again. I think I prefer "Teeth" between the two, but that's because it ripped live in a way the recorded version just doesn't. I can't get the website to work for "And Then There Was Nothing" at all.
This is also one of my main fears (but not just specifically Aaron) and why I always try to be mindful of who may read what I'm saying online if I don't like a song - and 99% of the time I just don't say anything at all. I really feel for these bands who are getting older and still trying to keep that creative spark going, because usually when they try something new, that's when they are the most apt to just get shit on and man, that sucks. I've said this in other threads but I can't imagine what a stress-inducing headache it must be to try to please old fans and still feel like you're pushing yourself creatively and having fun making music.
Fair lol. Maybe it’s an issue with that site & your browser, once I fill out the info and hit submit it lets me listen. I ripped it from the site also though, will DM you
Put a fake one, same with the phone number. I'm not from the US so I had to do that for the latter anyway, it unlocks the player without having to do anything else
Stoll haven't gotten an email for my show and its less than a month away now... did the fan-voted encode go away?
what’s crazy to me is the Venn diagram of people calling the new stuff pop and sellout music and people who go to shows for TOCS is nearly a circle.
Ok.... fuck.... I actually love Survivor's Guilt now I was such a hater on release day. I think the pop elements are really good.
