That's entirely valid even if the album may have not landed for other people. What you feel about this album is basically how I feel about Erase Me. Like, that one came out right after I got out of a really awful relationship so I found a lot of the "I can do this on my own and I don't need you" sort of messaging really empowering at the time
I had a great experience with this album yesterday. Went on a long trail run with a lot of climbing. 3800ft of climb, 19.1 miles exactly. Earlier in the run I listened to Lost in the Sound of Separation. As I start climbing the final big climb toward the end of the run I put on this album. Only 2 things I listened to on the run. It's getting dark, its been cloudy all day. I'm hiking up part of the mountain into the fog. Once I get to the top and down the steep backside of the ridge to terrain I can run on again I push it a bit to try to make it back to the car before I need a headlamp(which I forgot). Running single track, tree covered, bleak trails with city lights in the near distance was a cool vibe with this album. Its practically dark... totally should have used the light from my phone. Album is ending with of course Outsider. And with that song now being my vibe maker with about 1 mile to go I have to descend quickly down this steep, barely there, service road out of the woods and into this rich neighborhood that's butted up against this side of the mountain. Running down the street through the neighborhood that's still up on a hill, city lights in the far distance, fog wrapped, Christmas lights on the houses..... Bliss.
yeah i had a falling out with my childhood best friend after being gaslit by him for months straight so despite being extremely blunt in their delivery lol the lyrics on this record were extremely relevant to my life the moment this dropped, and in a way i think i needed the bluntness to cut through that situation
I still like the album but, Devil aside, I haven't had the urge to revisit it. In contrast, I was obsessed with Voyeurist for a full year, constantly juggling between the official and the Digital Ghost versions. After seeing Loss and Generation No Surrender live, the studio versions don't hit the same. If their Audiotree session ever gets released, I wonder how these songs will sound then. Still replaying the unnamed demo from a few months back though, it's truly top tier Underoath and closer to what I want from them.
the demo is insane yeah, i honestly think its my favorite thing theyve done since getting back together
This one https://www.reddit.com/r/Underoath/comments/1n2ocoo/underoath_demo_link/ I think they sent it to anyone that bought the Locus Ultra edition of the vinyl or something
One life one chance pod was great. One of Aaron’s better pods on this run. He confirmed there will be shows for define the great line. Lots of good new stories.
It looks like they're bringing out some Disambiguation tracks for the E.N.D. Cruise. https://www.reddit.com/r/Underoath/comments/1qc2fuz/underoath_setlists_for_the_end_cruise/
Yeah that's surprising. I wonder if this means they want to move on quickly from the TPATO cycle and get the next album going once the DTGL tour is done. New Oath in 2027?
Happy about Disambiguation love. In my dreams they kept going with the Unsound/Sunburt sound into a full album.
Still don’t understand the TPATO distain, but I’m all for more Disambiguation tracks making their way into the set
There's some great stuff on there. Sonically it's maybe the best they've ever sounded, but then you have stuff like the first 15 seconds of All The Love Is Gone which should have went right in the trash bin.
i like the new album a lot more than most, come back to it pretty frequently even now, but having heard the last demo i also know they can do better, so a 2027 release has been my hopes. still think they have their best post hiatus album in them and maybe spending a year on the road doing dtgl will help kinda calibrate them in a way
Super rad. They did the fan voted set lists and they just did the hits. I would love if after the DTGL run if they did a MWY style setlist on a run of shows where any song is possible and the setlist is different every night.
Chris posted an alternate chorus to Down Set Go! https://www.instagram.com/stories/u...rce=ig_story_item_share&igsh=MjRuOXk5ZXd4aThs
I knew it when they posted a Chicago audio visual setup way back. This will be probably the best recorded performance in a minute. Audio tree crushes.
the Counterparts one from this last week was so good. I love that the artists are able to have their own setup/visuals for it.
