A Mastodon feature is definitely not something I was expecting but I also didn't expect Ghostemane on Voyeurist either and that turned out well. So I'm optimistic about that at least
The Troy feature is awesome. Excited to hear them talk about it in interviews. Chris must have lost it when that was happening. Haven’t listened to any of the singles in a couple months, but survivors guilt is still rattling around all the time because of that wild drum pattern.
Troy feature rules. Garrett would've been cool as well, but I feel like he operates in the same sonic space as Spencer, and I think Troy has a chance to really bring a fun back and forth with Spencer and Aaron.
not for nothing, but we also already have a collab with Spencer and Garrett (Psychescape), so while i'd love another, it's cool we're getting Troy
but thats exactly why it would rule! returning the favor! that and garrett is much better now than he used to be, although he has always ruled. great song though, still think thats their best album this is still cool too though
i will say that a while back i looked at what songs Underoath had registered via the ASCAP repertory, and all of these except for Outsider showed up (and there was no mention of an additional performer on Vultures), so this is probably a legit tracklist.
EWS was a great album for sure, but what they did with Superbloom blew me away. working with Dan Braunstein again has really unlocked something in them.
Could the scrapped album be what they were working on when they released Let Go and Lifeline (Drowning)?
It was completed shortly after those singles, yes. I'm thinking that Reddit person had a ton of info on the scrapped album and got in a little trouble with the band. It was supposedly Voyeurist 2.0 and from what I had heard of it, that description was accurate and also included an acoustic version of Lifeline. Maybe we'll hear it one day. I really don't know what would make them want to scrap it entirely.
you said the album was supposedly voyeurist 2.0 and i think this is the reason for them scrapping it. i loved these 2 singles from 2023 but i was feeling that these songs were b-sides from voyeurist with better guitar work, and the band says in interviews that they like to reinvent themselves in each new album and i haven't got that vibe from them with let go and lifeline (these songs still go hard and i wouldn't complain if they released an voyeurist 2.0)
Yeah just gimme both. I really liked Lifeline and Let Go. Definitely think the direction the recent singles have been going are more interesting, though.
Norma Jean just announced three Florida shows with "Locus Ultra" opening... isn't Locus Ultra something relating to this release? I'm not seeing any band actually named that.
The Locus Ultra instagram page seems super cryptic and the short clip they posted does sound like something UO would put out. Very tempted to buy a ticket just to see if it’s actually them.
It's definitely them. I'm excited to see how this all pans out considering all of the rumors, shelved stuff, and now new moniker. Maybe all the leaked art and tracklists were to distract us from Locus Ultra.
I don't want to sound too obvious, but I wouldn't be surprised at this point if there are two albums. Locus Ultra (the "scrapped one") and TPATO is the second one
"Locus Ultra" is shown in all the single's artwork so far. Locus ultra translates roughly to place beyond in latin. I just checked the instagram account and the first post is the masked guy from generation no surrender music video and the producer for the new album liked it.
the masks on the locus ultra instagram are similar to clips from the generation no surrender video. not that those aren't super common and easy to get, but still...it's a connection
