I randomly picked up the saw blade edition of Lost years after it was released when they found like 12 copies in their warehouse. Forever one of my favorite pieces. I also have the ø picture disk but I wish I had a standard copy.
I have the saw blade edition, but I think I bought it used from somebody on reddit years ago. Still one of my favorites also.
I also have the saw blade that I got on eBay before scene vinyl really blew up, got it for $60. Kinda surprised it’s not worth more tbh but I might be willing to part with it. I really want the purple marble one but seems that one’s worth even more.
yeah i dont really like the rave esque synth flourishes that are here and there. the electronic/production on voyeurist is more to my taste comparitively.
Going to give this a lot more listens with my work commutes this week, but sadly wasn’t really itching for it over the weekend. However, I will say that this album has some of their catchiest songs to date and there are numerous moments that keep replaying in my head.
For anyone feeling overwhelmed or not able to get into the album, this thing really opened up for me on multiple listens once I was more used to the chaos. I recommend giving it a couple tries before writing it off! I like it more each time I hear it.
The part I can't get out of my head right now is the breakdown during Loss' second verse. Spencer screams over these palm muted guitar chords and in that moment everything is produced in a way it sounds like the audio is vacuumed out, then it's immediately followed by glitchy guitar feedback and bam, another round of the chorus. It's just so... intense. Chaotic is a good way to describe this album, for better or worse. It captures a specific feeling I got as a kid discovering Define The Great Line and being blown away by the whole soundscape. It also feels like what I imagine (because they sadly never come here) their live show sounding like IRL.
Finally got to listen to this. Musically, they’re just firing on all cylinders. It’s such a huge, logical jump forward from Voyeurist. Just an absolute ripper. The production really sings through all of the chaos and shifts. Great work. Lyrically, it feels like a real retread of Erase Me and Voyeurist and that’s a bit tiring. But, somehow, the “fuck you, I’m enough” is the first time Spencer’s cussing doesn’t come across as a corny teenager to me. “All The Love Is Gone” is probably the worst Underoath song I’ve ever heard, though. Nothing about it works for me. Also, this album may have the worst single choices of any album roll out ever, even worse than some of Taylor’s.
I worked at that operation (Merchline) and still regret not snagging one when we came across those lol
after sitting with this over the weekend, standouts for me are devil and teeth. i think it kind of plummets off a cliff after teeth.
If there was an album that consisted of Outsider and No Frame like tracks, I’d be a happy camper. Outsider is my fav track on the new album.
It's crazy how different everyone feels about this album and the songs. HAHA I personally love it. My hot takes: Good 1.the opening sample in Shame and also the breakdown 2. The end of Cannibal. Cannibal honestly should have been a single 3.Outsider-the fade out before the distorted drums come back in with Spencer's falsetto vocals through the end of the song 4. TEETH-the whole damn song 5. I honestly never expected them to write songs with choruses like all the love is gone, teeth, shame, cannibal, outsider Bad 1. opening guitar riff in Spinning is a straight ripoff of the desperate times, desperate measures main riff off LITSOS 2. the snare sample they used is garbage. Wish they used something different 3. Vultures seems the one that is very out of place for the rest of the album
Love the ways in which this album's electronics production is "shitty" and super compressed and clippy. I've only listened to hardcore for the past 6 months so the more pristine elements of production don't make it sound to overpolished. In this way, it reminds me A LOT of DFTGL's production and adds to the opressive, beating atmosphere. I like this as much as Voyeurist for different reason. This album is such a high energy beater. I want to windmill in the pit to this.
Definitely needing to hear some of these new songs live. Especially Devil, All The Love is Gone, Shame, Cannibal. Seems like they may keep the singles (Generation, Survivors Guilt, Teeth) in their live rotation which is a Shame considering some of these other songs on the album deserve a live debut. EDIT: Aaron's prechorus in Vultures is wasted here. Could've led to a much better chorus.

I will say All the Love was pretty mean live last month in Melbourne, as someone who is very mixed on a lot of the choices they made on all the album versions I think these songs will crush live
