Also happy to finally hear Shame after hearing the demo. I was never worried about enjoying a new UØ album, but it’s truly nice to know it’s GOOD.

  4. Can’t see it but I’ll have to try on my laptop when I get home

I'll just wait to pick this up at my show in April to avoid shipping. Pretty wild that my concert ticket was cheaper than the record.

We reach for the longest shadow

Vinyl has really gotten to the point where the only way I will buy it is at a shop or a show. I rarely listen to it so I’m just not in a hurry to get it on release day.

unrelated but i was looking at the vinyl mockups and noticed that the artwork for this album was handled by the same guys who worked on the art for Erase Me and Voyeurist, but under the name Obelus Era instead of Tension Division. did Tension Division shut down/change their name? or are they still active and Obelus Era is an offshoot?

  9. Maybe it’s Underoath under yet another moniker

nah, upon further inspection, it looks like two of the core members of the other art direction agency - Nate Utesch and Joel Cook - seem to be spearheading this effort, so i'm assuming they split off from Tension Division to do their own thing.

Pre-ordered the black/pink swirl. I've tried to listen to the singles as little as possible and won't be checking out the livestream. It's Underoath, so I'm just in for wherever this is gonna take me lol

I'm... way too excited for this album, I feel like a did a 180 on it. Maybe not a complete 180 because I dug the singles but I wasn't hyped like I was with Voyeurist, Disambiguation and Lost In The Sound. Getting to hear the rest through these live rips, I can finally see where they're going with the whole thing and I'm on board. It helps that it seems to sound riffier and groovier than the last two.

edit: Seriously, it's like each of the remaining song has a memorable riff or drum pattern and that's something that I couldn't say for most of their post-hiatus material so far, and that I hadn't realized I had missed from Tim and Aaron.

For those, like me, who are on the fence about pre-ordering because of the prices, I did notice the indie retail version is a neat looking pink/white mix, rather than just a solid color like a lot of the store exclusives have been lately. That made it a little easier for me to hold off.

I get that. I’m more interested than I initially thought when Teeth first dropped. I’m trying to remain open-minded about the whole experience. Survivor’s Guilt grew on me, Generation was good from the start (though the chorus is still weird to me), and I like All the Love is Gone too.

I feel like we’ll all like and appreciate the album more as a whole than these glimpses we get at what seems to be a much wilder and riskier musical approach.

This ongoing discussion got me to throw on Erase Me for the first time in a long while yesterday. While I'd still probably rank it at the bottom of their discography (not including the pre-Spencer stuff), there's a lot of stuff on there that I really love. "It Has to Start Somewhere", "On My Teeth", "Hold Your Breath", and "No Frame" are all really great.

I'd also never heard the studio cover of "Heart-Shaped Box" that's on streaming. It's nothing particularly noteworthy, but I do remember them playing that on the Erase Me tour and it sounded great live.

is it uh supposed to sound as underwater as it does? the quality is so bad whenever i open it up that i have to ask if its a problem on my end of just how the video is haha

  23. It sounds like those livestreamed myspace/stickham shows from back in the day lol. Obviously it's not Digital Ghost or the Observatory streams but I'll take it

trying to remember, were the Observatory shows recorded and broadcasted live at the same time? or were they prerecorded and broadcast live like Digital Ghost?

every gen z person in the local hardcore scene here is listening to Act of Depression and Changing of the The Changing of Times which has been cool
