Stray is nowhere near ETID in any way but I'm psyched to see them all the same. Their new album should be super solid. Also happy to see Spiritbox move up the bill. They'll really benefit from, presumably, a longer set and higher exposure.
listened to Stray for the first time in years and liked them way more than I remember! A bit more excited although nothing can fill the ETID-sized hole. Bad Omens was terrible though.
You'd need a band like Alexisonfire to fill the spot of ETID. Those two bands don't even equate to the hole left by ETID... Glad to hear that Spiritbox is moving up on the bill, they deserve it!
Underoath said they were asked to delay the announcement one day, could it legitimately have been to make their name bigger??
I think, ultimately, ETID breaking up put UO in a tough spot with this tour. It seems like older fans are less than thrilled about the replacements, but younger fans are all for it. With the limited time they had to figure out how to fill the ETID size hole, I feel like they did the best they could. I think a lot of protentional other bands are still sitting on announcing their spring tours with COVID still being a thing.
Super bummed about ETID, but I haven't seen UO since their TOCS/DTGL tour. I'm really enjoying Voyeurist and hope they play a fair amount from Erase Me. I'm not familiar with any of the openers. Any recommendations on where to dive in for any of them?
Stray - Honestly, their top songs on Spotify (or Apple Music, I'm sure they're about the same) will do. They've been incredibly consistent over the years so really anything is fine. They're one of the few bands that don't require start-to-finish album listens. Bad Omens - Never listed to! But looking forward to getting into them before the tour. Spiritbox - Kind of the metalcore darlings du jour. But honestly, their new album rips. It was a bit over hyped and they released 1/3rd the album over the course of the pandemic through singles. However, with fresh ears and no preconceived notions, Eternal Blue will flow well. They will likely benefit most from ETID's departure as their higher billing may give them more exposure and, hopefully, a longer set. I'm pumped for this tour though. Stray has been a bucket list band for a while and I can't wait to hear Spiritbox live. Also haven't seen UO since Erase Me came out - pumped to hear how the new tracks translate to a live setting.
Have you tried for a refund? Wondering what they say because I'm considering it. I was really going for ETID and it's a 2 hour drive for me one way.
yeah I was planning to drive 3.5 to see them in Dallas but the ticket says acts subject to change so I haven’t really looked into it very deep. I put them up for resale through Ticketmaster but they’ve been sitting there for a week or so now and I’m starting to wonder if they’ll ever actually sell
Broadly speaking, I feel like tickets resell either right after release (if an immediate sell-out) or right before an event. The time in between has less of a market because people wanting to commit early probably already have their tickets.
