This is probably the wrong place for this commemt but: I can't be the only one who thinks Aaron Gillespie's voice sounds a lot like Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins?
Anyone else have any info on what time your email had your m&g check in time for? I just got mine for Philly on Sunday & it says check in is at 1:45, but the show starts at 6:45, maybe a typo? I did the Rebirth tour & they did similar stuff with the sound check & m&g, but this seems wayyyy early. Any info would be sick
Did a quick scan of Reddit and it sounds like the process is pretty long, and a few mentioned having 90 minutes to 2 hours of free time in between VIP and doors. So, I suspect that's why. Seems like they do a quick sound check, then hang out for about an hour, and let people buy merch. I'll be sure to let you guys know how it goes tomorrow in Worcester.
My show: 6:00 - Doors 6:45 - The Plot In You 7:30 - Crown The Empire 8:15 - Dance Gavin Dance 9:20 - Underoath 11:00 - Venue Curfew
So they wrote me back & it looks like we do have to be there at 145, but there will be time after for us to leave the venue & come back before the show
The show last night was hella good - stage setup/light show was some of the coolest I've ever seen. Amazing setlist. We got a Nirvana cover (Heart-Shaped Box). Soooo worth for UO alone.
For those that were wondering, a little rundown of VIP: They brought us inside shortly after 2pm and checked everyone in and handed out the VIP merch. We were told we were being brought to the stage at 2:15-2:20, but the band was a little late. Wound up being shortly after 2:30. Underoath was already on stage. Spencer told us they’d play a song real quick, then come down and hang. They checked “ihateit” and then we had 5 minutes or so to go to merch before the guys came down. It’s a free for all after that. The guys just hang around on the floor and you’re free to approach them and mingle as you wish. I had no problem getting to everyone in the allotted time (we were to be escorted out at 3:45, but everyone was done before then.) We’re let back in at 6 before the GAs so long as we have our lanyard. All the guys were super cool. Chris took the longest because he chats with everyone a bunch. James and Grant barely had anyone around them but they were incredibly friendly and would chat as long as you wanted. Aaron and Spencer had the biggest crowds, but everyone was courteous about not taking up too much of their time. By the way, we were allowed to bring in merch to have them sign. I had my Erase Me vinyl, but I almost switched and bought the tour poster. The guys all have gold sharpies, so no worries about bringing your own.
Glad they all have hold markers, I'm pretty sure Grant was signing everything with a black one on the first leg.
I walked up to inquire about the VIP line and they escorted me into Dance Gavin Dance’s meet and greet. I tried to tell them I was an Underoath VIP from earlier but they insisted I go on. I went to a couple of security guards and told them what was up once I was inside and they told me to just stay. So, uh, cool?
I was there last night @disambigujason in Philly & it was insane! That set was so worth the wait in the cold
They just announced a tour with Breaking Benjamin and Skillet. Really want to see UO again but there’s absolutely no way I’m paying to see them do a 3rd billed 30 minute set when I have less than zero interest in the two headliners.
an odd pairing - sure, but i wouldn't condemn them for it. their new album has a lot of songs that fans of BB might enjoy, and it might be an opportunity for them to tap into a different fanbase....idk, just happy that i might have another chance to see them again soon.
Its definitely good for them since they'll be playing for people who probably don't know their music. But agree with Kellan, not a fan of any of the other bands so will for sure not be going to this.
as support for BB i would expect a heavy load of new album songs with maybe Boy brushed Red and/or writing on the walls. wouldn't expect a usual UO set for the crowd this tour will draw.
