objectively TOCS is definitely better. I think it's just "new album bias" that's causing people to prefer this new one.
Man azzy01... You have zero idea what the word objective means. Lol Either way. Glad people like this and good see them charting. Gonna listen all day and hope I come around on it.
Anyone know details on the Chicago "secret" release show? I signed up for the contest, but haven't received anything and neither have my friends, but nothing seems to state they've released any info at all? All seems super vague.
I'm not the hugest Underoath fan...the only album I consistently listen to is LITSOS and I love it. That being said, "I Gave Up" makes me want to jump around, punch things, and cause severe back and neck strain from thrashing around like a lunatic. At the end of the day, that's what I want from Underoath.
they're only chasing safety actually has ten complete songs, though. this one has ten songs with interesting ideas in incomplete songs. anyway i did my second listen and liked it more and then i started DTGL and remembered how much better it could've been and got upset again.
It's just a very disappointing album to me knowing what they're capable of after their last two albums. Like, I get what they're going for, and it'll probably do well, but it's just not for me outside of maybe 3 songs.
Hold Your Breath-No Frame will be my most returned to portion of this album, undoubtedly. I'll come around on the rest of it to some level, I'm sure. I've loved Underoath far too much for too long to not.
and i even like poppy underoath a lot. so there's a clear disconnect. i have no problems with the expanding ideas or trying new things (see: actually loving No Frame), but they just didn't execute this time around for me.
if i had to choose between Erase Me, and TOCS, i could probably say that Erase Me is a "better" album technically speaking, but TOCS is my favorite. i'm more into the genre and production of albums like TOCS, even if Erase Me technically has better quality. (but DTGL destroys them all)
I don't think anyone is suffering from this. This is exactly what happened when disambiguation came out. And it's regarded as probably one of their better releases now.
Kanye disc: College dropout through graduation (TOCS through LITSOS) MBDTF (Diasambiguation) 808's/Yeezus (Erase Me) Sonically & stylistically, a complete departure from what the fan base was accustomed to
Every time I listen to Wake Me (I've managed 3 times) I get embarrassed for them. That song is worse than I could have ever imagined. I cannot believe they agreed to play it let alone had a hand in writing it. I'm gonna keep telling myself that they were given that song by someone else. It doesn't fit the album at all. I think my biggest complaint is you can tell when they were told "just cut that part short" by Squire. There's so many things that I know they would have expanded upon if they weren't being so heavily produced.
I haven't even listened to the leak yet and Wake Me is the only clip I listened to on Facebook - good grief, I am NOT looking forward to that track at all. Just that snippet was B-A-D
