is "hold your breath" the first time we've ever heard them play in a major key? I'm being serious.. even if chasing safety was "poppy" it always was based off of natural minor progressions.
I'm really loving this album, its so different for them. its catchy but its still pretty experimental. No Frame is soo cool.
I don't have the time to listen to everything so I've listened to Sink With You through Hold Your Breath and don't like any of them
Yeah I'm not a fan. Even the songs I didn't dislike started to grate on me by the end of the first listen.
I think this is my biggest problem with it. No surprise but this is easily Spencer's most honest vocal performance. And to be honest, I think it sort of carries this record.
I think I'm going to end up really liking it. The things I didn't like in the singles work better in context of the record. There's a lot of variety on an album this catchy/poppy. I'm sure theres gonna be a lot of fans that arn't into this at all. It doesn't get heavy often but when it does it really goes off. "I gave up" is like a piano rock ballad but its got some really interesting note choices. and has a breakdown at the end that absolutely slaps.
I would be lying if I said these comments weren't bumming me out. I really want this record to be great. I am about to put it on now for a ride so here's to hoping I will be stoked on it.
soo looks like this leaked? some of @teebs41 comments kinda bummed me out but i trust teebs so its a weird feeling
I fell in love with underoath through their heavier songs, but I'm really enjoying this. Idk though, I also listen to a large variety of music so maybe that helps me appreciate this album, since it doesn't sound anything like their old stuff.
you'll have to embrace it as a pop record. once I did it, I just enjoyed the hell out of it. Lots of.. this will be fun to headbang and listen to in your car to moments. I also think lyrically there is a narrative that feels really true and honest and that helps me connect with it.
