I hope so (and also believe it will be). I couldn't imagine someone signing off on something like that. As for the song, I'm pretty sure I dig it (and that it's probably the most single-ish song on the record). I bet they're aiming for some radioplay, and who can blame them? They've got families. I really doubt the whole record is going to be pop choruses. Also, Aaron is a goddamn beast on here and I'm here for it.
Can someone help me with the lyrics? Verse 1: Let's get this (????) Without you I'm not your fucking (???) so save yourself and no one else Pre-Chorus: What you believe (x3) Your life is a lie Get over it (x3) Chorus: You got the best of me You stabbed me in the back I taste you on my teeth You're like a heart attack I'm not okay (I'm here to tell the truth) I still feel safe (down here where I belong) Verse 2: So where were you when I fell out(??) went back into the dark I'm lost again so don't come find me Bridge: One day you might be hopeless(???)
I'm surprised at how much I like this after reading through this thread. Sounds like Underoath to me. Even in its compressed, bad quality state I think it owns. Reminds me a lot of LITSOS actually. If this is the most accessible, most industrial song on the album that'd be awesome, but even if it's not this doesn't do much to temper my excitement. I really really like this.
It will definitely make it difficult for the Family Christian Store to shelf the album. As long as the lyrics don't become edgy, i'm cool with it.
Wow. I need new headphones. But really, i'm just trying to find the context of the lyrics. It doesn't sound like it's about Spencer's lack of religious beliefs. It sounds like he has beef with someone.
In all seriousness, I'm very interested in hearing what the lyrics will be like. I feel like when Aaron left, the lyrics got a lot darker, so I'm curious if push and pull between Spencer's darker parts and Aaron's more hopeful parts will return. I always liked that dynamic and I missed it on Disambiguation.
After two listens I'm pretty whatever on this. Really hope it's not indicative of what the rest of the album may sound like. I definitely want more sludgy/atmospheric/industrial sounding stuff from this band, a la Disambiguation.
I gotta blindly trust that this album pulls through. I’m worried it’s going to be like the dashboard comeback album where it’s focus is chasing trends (in this case in metalcore) rather than writing good music
tbf their lyrics usually are pretty bland and the more I think about it, the lyrics could be pointing to Aaron's recent divorce.
disambiguation has brilliant lyrics. i think aaron is a much worse writer than spencer i think i said that last night
I don't disagree with this just by comparing Aaron's solo stuff to Disambiguation. I have no idea who wrote what from TOCS to LITSOS.
Go back and read lyrics to a song like "Desperate Times Desperate Measures" and then compare to this song.
