FWIW: I haven't been in a big "rock" mood in a while, and yet I keep finding excuses to put this album on. It's actually grown on me and I liked it, didn't love it, from the start. Oddly has a nostalgia meets "new" sound to it that I find appealing. It's become something I'll actually seek out to listen to between binges of the new Now, Now.
song is cool. spencer's voice has improved so much it's crazy. cool to hear Aaron sing on this one. I wish bands would stop doing the whole "end the song with a half time chorus" thing. just seems like the easiest and least interesting songwriting cop-out.
Album comes out in like 3 weeks. I'm guessing these are the only 2 they plan on releasing between now and then
Dig the song. This might actually do decent for them on radio and I hope it does cuz they deserve it. It's not as good as On My Teeth but it's solid.
I've had the hardest time noticing Aaron until I read this thread and people point out where he sings at.
This is really great for Spencer, I think this is very well-said. What does confuse me, though, is him saying Christianity turned him into a drug addict? I thought I've read past interviews where he's said he was a drug addict before being "saved" by Christianity. Am I remembering past interviews wrong? Or is he saying it helped his addiction initially to feel "saved", but then the pressures of Christianity eventually made him relapse?
Yeah, listening to Rapture in high quality in my car speakers didn't make this song any more enjoyable. Am I nuts, or is the production on these two tracks pretty flat?
You ever think it's possible people don't think their opinion is truth and you're just mad people don't like something you like
I won't be posting in this thread anymore anyhow. Don't wanna rain on the parade because clearly it's affecting people for some reason
I think the production is incredible. Easily one of the highlights of the album. Modern, clear, clean, great tones all around in instruments and vocals, and some great leveling work.
Listened to Rapture again. Definitely growing on me. Still love On My Teeth a whole lot more but this is solid.
I know this isn't directed at me, but I've had disagreements with you in here and want you to know that I've enjoyed discussing Underoath with you in here. You've given me some perspective on certain things and have reminded me of things I have completely forgotten about with this band. You're also why I've finally checked out Disambiguation. I disagree with you for thinking the song is flat out awful, but I totally respect your opinion and understand why you'd feel that way. So, you're not ruining everybody's parade anyways :p
I guess I haven't been too impressed with the sound of the drums on the two tracks. I feel like the bass had more of a punch to it in their previous albums when playing a song off an old album immediately after listening to one of these songs. Still excited and itching to hear more from the album, though.
I've been seeing this comment a lot lately (some variation of people thinking opinion = truth!) , and I'm curious what people think others are arguing from when they offer their opinion (positive or negative) on a song or album or band. Of course the operating principle is "this is my opinion and I think it's right" — why would someone come from the angle that their opinion is "wrong" from the outset. That's the whole point of talking about things, coming from your personal frame of reference and arguing why you believe one thing over the other. I get this a lot: "oh you think your opinion is gospel or the only one that matters" — and no, it's that I think what I think and a willing to defend it and argue why I have come to that conclusion. Or "You don't listen to counter opinions" which is also nonsense, because if I'm responding to them that's because I did listen to them and want to discuss my counter argument to their points. Anyway, I've thought about this a lot over the past couple days and this post made me think about it again. Quick, now, someone tell me this sounds like Fall Out Boy.
