It’s alright. It’s pretty catchy. The kind of song I’m not inclined to seek out on its own but probably won’t skip when I’m listening to the record.
Yeah, as someone who just has a hard time listening to the style of music their past few albums have been, I’m stoked on this. Loving both songs.
It's not bad, it's not great. Both songs have sounded like Spencer did all the writing with little input from the rest of the band. Hope the other stuff is less like that
Doesn't sound like that to me, I mean the fact the entire band wanted to record with Jordan and Oli of bmth kinda shows the general direction they desired to go in. Could just be that the four main writers had a specific goal and sound in mind.
I think it's fine. A bit of a blur in the middle but the verses sound good to me and the ending is cool. I understand people not liking it but I'm pretty open to anything, I doubt it'll be anywhere near my top when the album comes out but I can listen to it.
Song is fine for what it is. Don't like it as much as "On My Teeth", but it's not bad by any means. I've heard much much worse from other bands trying the same thing.
Just because it's Underoath doesn't mean it can't be bad. Let's call it what it is. By no means has my excitement for the album diminished.
Personally I’m still really excited for the album, and enjoy both singles. I totally get why people wouldn’t be into them, but I think they’re doing a more “accessible” take on their sound really well so far and am looking forward to an album that seems like it’ll be really stylistically diverse.
I'm still looking forward to it but my anticipation's based on their previous brilliance, rather than these two songs.
Spent most of the song thinking "can't tell if I'd like this more if it were sung by Anthony Green." Spencer's voice kind of veers in that direction tonally sometimes, but clearly he's no Anthony. Don't hate the song, but did find it a bit less exciting than On My Teeth. Verses were a little "NIN-lite" which was kinda neat, I suppose.
it's pretty good - it's heavy and Spencer and Aaron have some good call back vocals between shouting and screaming and a dope harmony/melody on the chorus and an absolutely crushing outro with Spencer screaming "THERE IS NO FIX" (which feels like a nice call back to A Divine Eradication). it could end up being a lot of people's favorite song on the album
I get where you're coming from, personally I would probably prefer an album continuing in the direction of LITSOS/Disambiguation. But I'm enjoying the new stuff too, and certainly don't think it's terrible (although like I said I get why people are disappointed). I'm gonna reserve judgment until I hear the full album, so far I'd probably agree that it's a regression but I think it's still good music if that makes sense. Not what I necessarily wanted, but since this is what we're getting I'm enjoying it for what it is, especially since Drew says a lot of the best tracks are yet to come.
Rapture in CDQ is out there if you have a pre-order or are on Apple Music, should probably be elsewhere soon. Sounds SO much better in good quality than the radio rip.
