I always thought it was weird/funny how people deliberately chose not to listen Disambiguation because Aaron was no longer on it. It was a shame because I was always telling people they were missing out on the band's best work. I like Spencer way more as a singer than Aaron. I don't mind Aaron as a vocalist, but I think Spencer's voice suits what Underoath is trying to do way more and Disambiguation shows that. Also, as damn good of a drummer Aaron is, David is so much better. He fucking crushes it on Disambiguation with a relatively small setup. Amazing work on that album.
When Disambiguation originally came out, I kept hearing this but I wasn't a drummer at the time so I wasn't really sure how true it was. Now I've picked up drums and I can 100% confirm that Daniel is a fucking incredible drummer. However Aaron has a certain frenetic aspect to his playing that REALLY works for a certain style of music. So while I would definitely say Daniel is better, I also wouldn't love LITSOS nearly as much as I do if the drums were different. Aaron's unique style just really fit that album.
Yea no way Aaron tours as Paramore’s live drummer if he isn’t insanely good. Also Aaron said learning the drum parts for Paramore’s self titled made him way better at drums. Hoping to hear some new aspects of his playing on the new album.
Yeah I'm definitely not trying to say Daniel isn't as good as Aaron or anything like that. My point is just that Aaron's drumming style was perfect for LITSOS. Also somehow I forgot that he was the drummer for Norma Jean??????? what the fuck. I remember him from Colour Revolt and ETID and managed to completely blank on Norma Jean.
No offense, but I couldn’t imagine not even giving a record a chance bc of one member change haha. Oh well time to rectify this!
Disambiguation is fantastic. I just grew up on DTGL and LITSOS feels like a better more cohesive album to me! All 3 are miles better than TOCS, I think that much we can all agree on.
eh sure all those records are more accomplished than tocs but as i realized last week it has value as its own thing
yea.. I think TOCS stands miles ahead of the other stuff that sounded like it at its time. I still love that record a ton.
Alone in December is still in my top 10 UO songs sorry I like listening to everything from TCOT to now. Respect the Shuf, baybeeeeee
I was in this same position but decided to revisit Disambiguation since the album announcement. I initially wrote it off because of Aaron not being in there, but it really is a fantastic album. I said it in here recently, but it bears repeating: Disambiguation easily has the best production this band has ever had.
Does that mean production wise or like, in the band? That's fuckin weird. I like BMTH but yea, I think it's better off that that didn't work out
I still think that album (Hollow Crown) is by far their best but they definitely don't have a bad album. They just went more in the direction of straightforward metalcore and hit it big with that.
Lol my worst fears was that new underoath sounded like bmth... I’m glad that didn’t happen... totally ha
Sam Carter has such a powerful singing voice, seems like an overall good dude in a scene full of bad ones as well.
