idk why this is happening but i'm really clicking with lost in the sound of separation in a way i never have before, and i've been listening to this record for... almost ten years lol
Same happened to me over the past year. Always knew the lyrics but they have new relevance now. Fortunately it’s good enough that it doesn’t sound dated either.
i'm on disambiguation now and holy shit, "paper lung." why haven't i spent more time with this record EDIT: wow what an incredible album, now i have no idea what my favorite underoath record is again
i may not know what my favorite underoath album is but i'm pretty sure "coming down is calming down" is my favorite underoath song
My gut reaction is Moving for the Sake of Motion but Returning Empty Handed has been creeping up the list. I can’t even pick my fav off LITS alone.
They sound pretty much nothing alike but Disambiguation kind of reminds me of Dirt by Alice In Chains for some reason.
Paper Lung is one I’ve often suggested to friends who haven’t really listened to Underoath but are fans of heavy music... it’s a great song to get people hooked on the band imo, one of their best and most dynamic for sure.
There’s definitely some sludge metal influence and as @sophos34 mentioned to me recently AIC had a big influence on that subgenre. You’re not alone, I totally hear a similarity in overall “mood” of both albums.
Looks like I’m getting my advance as soon as next week... man I’m so excited if that happens. Regardless of how the album turns out I am so thrilled at the prospect of reviewing a new Underoath album, something that for many years I never thought would happen again.
The chorus of In Division is where they sound the most alike but yeah they both have a similar dark, angry, helpless mood.
Just listened to In Divison, and wanted to run 6 Miles. Though I didn’t, and I’m playing Monster Hunter right meow.
I love In Division, but Disambiguation just never clicked with me for some reason. LITSOS remains my favorite.
I need to sleep but I also want to listen to Disambiguation for the fifth time today. “I want to watch them burn it down so I can breathe again” damn can Spencer sing.
Completely agree with this, you can pretty much wrangle DTGL through Disambiguation into an end-of-the-world trilogy if you so desire So much LITSOS disrespeck in this thread; the flow of that album is by far the best they ever had, it's like one 40-minute song that slaps from front to back
