I love Who Will Guard The Guardians. It's got such an airy atmosphere to it and I think it stokes a perfect balance between that and heaviness. I also love the upbeat and off beat feel that David brings to the drums in the bridge before the "REVOLT REVOLT" part. Honestly think that song is one of David's best performances on the album that already features phenomenal performances from him
This exactly. I loved In Division when it came out but never really got into the record on the whole. I’m really digging it now.
I remember vividly the winter of ‘10 when Disambiguation came out. In Completion, and Paper Lung were played probably 10 times a day. Adore that record, but there’s something about LITSOS that stands out to me as their best work. The soft/loud dynamic on that record is really something.
20 year old me didn't really give it a chance, 27 year old me listened to it a few times when they announced their Rebirth UK leg to see if I liked it, 28 year old me is annoyed it's not on Spotify here anymore...
how am I just realizing that Spencer sings the chorus cleans to Desperate Times, Desperate Measures. He sounds great there too
I think it's just the lines "When this thing breaks, I will be you, you will be me" (I think those are correct), and Aaron does the surrounding parts.
I've always admired how UØ breaks away from typical "verse-chorus-verse-chorus" song structures. The first single was pretty generic in that sense other than a bridge and a 1/2 tempo final chorus. Hoping we get some interesting flavors on this new album.
Right there with you. I never realized it and just went back and listened. Always thought it was Aaron.
I only knew bc I was watching some live video from MTV of the song and Spencer was doing it. So i checked the record and i can totally hear it now. Some good old live stuff laying around on the TUBE
Are they both singing unison? Cause it's clear that Spencer is singing but I also hear Aaron's voice too?
Uh it’s possible lol. They had a theme for that album that they didn’t want to do anything vocally that they couldn’t pull off live
Aaron is singing the "I hope this is short lived blah blah" part at the end of the chorus, but he is also singing the chorus with Spencer, but it is way lower in the mix. It's mainly Spencer.
I always heard “when this thing breaks” as Aaron and “you will be me” as spencer since he growls at the end. Never registered to me that the transition is too seamless to be two people haha
Yeah tbh even though Disambiguation is my favorite Underoath album and I prefer Spencer’s vocals, the vocal interplay between him and Aaron is definitely very cool and I’m excited for more of it on the new album.
Lol. I'm really amused at the idea of laughing my ass off when I listen to an album that rules. And I totally agree.
