Yeah I've got to echo my support for LITSOS. It's my most-returned to record by them, and the one I listened to first.
I've always tried to talk myself into LITSOS being my fav because it helped me get into so much heavy music but to me there's no denying anymore that Disambiguation is a more fully realized version of what they were going for on LITSOS
I see people mentioning that grant and James arnt involved in the writing process in that video. Tim said on some podcast that they never really were involved much with the writing it’s always been the chris Aaron Spencer and himself doing the majority of writing. I think this video is the writing/demoing I’m sure they are playing their parts on the album.
What is it about Spencer’s screaming that really draws me in? He’s just sooo brutal and full of emotion
Listened to DTGL today and that album is still so good. I thought I wasn’t as into it anymore but tbh I think I might like it about as much as Disambiguation. LITSOS is really good, but something about it just brings it down a bit for me, I think it’s a production thing more than anything.
That riff is incredible I just wish it came up twice. My guess... the riffs are still going to be there but we will need to dig more to find and appreciate them
I think I have a lot of different tastes in production than most people. Bc that albums production really grabs me. Edit: referring to litsos
video made it seem like tim was recording bass too. weird. they've never seemed like a band to switch around instruments.
Pretty sure tim writes all the guitar and bass on all the albums. This is way more common than most people realize.. emery is the same way.
it’s weird, define the great line was my favorite for a while, it’s such a leap in sound and song structure and they managed the transition from being a catchy band into being an interesting and compelling band whose music is full of shadows. i listened to lost in the sound of separation yesterday though, and idk, i just vibed to every song in a way i haven’t before. it’s such a creative album, the songs feel like they’re leaping in every direction at once but they’re still very tightly constructed and really catchy too. the sound of it is so colorful, even as it’s conveying a lot of sadness and anxiety. it’s my favorite for the moment but i feel like they’re two classic records situated so close together that it’s fitting in a way that i’ll never really figure out which one i like more ofc i still need to revisit disambiguation
That’s bc they’re an awesome band. Still one of my all time favorites. Super excited for their record this year; maybe more than this one
