It became less prevelant with every album after They're Only Chasing Safety. But take a look at the lyrics for Some Will Seek Forgiveness. https://genius.com/6737491
Yeah Spencer has a speech about it in their set for the Survive Kaleidoscope DVD. The full set is on youtube if you wanna watch it
I also think it’s important to keep in mind that the Christian angle definitely became less prominent in their actual music gradually in the albums after They’re Only Chasing Safety, and by the time Aaron left before Disambiguation it was essentially nonexistent.
More importantly imo, this band has so much more to offer than just Christian preachiness, definitely would be a shame for someone to not give them a chance because of their religious influences.
I dont view overt religiousness as a negative thing in music, and would definitely not consider Underoath to be preachy. I think writing about religion can be a vessel to explore deep concepts like depression, self-salvation, pride, shame, and love. Like with ACB, the older lyrics mostly deal with Spencer or Aaron’s relationship to God/religion/themselves as they cope with unanswerable questions
I don't know that song, is that pre TOCS? I basically consider that a completely different band with a few of the same members
Underoath/dgd/veil of maya/limbs apparently according to someone in the rumors thread who saw it on live nation
to me it's not the singer, it's actually jon mess's involvement, i haven't heard anything by the band i've liked that has his name on it
DGD is one of my favorite bands but I can understand why they’re not for everyone lol I just think their two vocal styles mix so incredibly well.
