Did anyone watch the live stream? It sounded like the album playing in the background and there were a ton of cleans on the song being played. It didn’t sound like this one.
Don’t love the lyrics. They do seem a little lackluster in comparison to what we’ve seen from Spencer on the last few UO albums. I really like the intro, love the half time to end the song. Hoping this is the radio single...kinda like blood on the sand for the thrice comeback. Preorder complete. Let’s fucking go!!! They are back.
I've had a couple more listens. I don't like it. Sounds like a band covering Underoath. Edit: this is a stupidly worded post, let me try again. It sounds like Underoath but it only vaguely feels like Underoath, there's something missing I think and it's holding the track back for me.
The more I listen to “On My Teeth”, the more I realize how insane the drums are. Aaron is a fucking beast.
Drums are definitely a highlight for me. I dunno, I don’t dislike the song, necessarily, but it just feels like it starts in one place and sort of ends in the same spot, if that makes sense. Doesn’t go anywhere too interesting imo
Best case scenario: This is one of the more accessible songs on the album (which would make sense like Drew said, being the first new song from them in 6 years and all) and they take some risks on other songs which would be great. worst case scenario (Probably): This is the general vibe of the album, which is fine with me too because I think these guys do the industrial and slightly nu-metal tinged sound really well. This sounds far better than lots of other metalcore bands that have tried similar things. Either way I'm happy.
Also: If you listen to Sunburnt it sounds like a bridge between Disambiguation and this. Between that and Spencer's work on Sleepwave, this seems to be the direction they have been hinting at going towards. It definitely feels like a progression when you factor in the Anthology tracks, for better or worse depending on your music taste.
This song, to me, felt like a good starting point for UØ in 2018. Not their best by any means, but it's a good progression and shows good direction. I also feel that this song must fit so well in the context of the entire album. They're a band that I don't really associate with singles (except for the major major one). Usually it's the whole album I'm listening to, not just songs here and there. So I bet this fits the overall story pretty well.
I’ve listened to On My Teeth a handful of times and I like it but it’s nothing great. I hope it’s not representative of the album as a whole.
I’ve listened to On My Teeth 6 times while walking around campus this morning and I’m too lazy to pick another song so I’ll probably listen to it 6 more times.
WHAT THE FUCK HOW AM I JUST NOW HEARING ABOUT THIS!? Their last three albums are perfect! What’s the lineup I don’t see in the op?
Aaron Gillespie Christopher Dudley Timothy McTague Grant Brandell James Smith Spencer Chamberlain According to Wikipedia
New song rips. If Aaron is on it I didn’t really hear him then....plus when Spencer said fuck I immediately thought that meant no Aaron. I guess I could kinda make out his voice, but not any prominent stuff like on Define, and Lost.
