I really hope they push this as a single. Even if the radio edit didn't have the heavy part of the bridge like the acoustic version they did. Then people would check out the real version and get it. Haha.
What's wrong with people enjoying an album the more they listen to it? We get it, you don't enjoy it. That's perfectly fine.
No everyone has to know that there are people who think it sucks, we clearly aren't getting enough of that from random social media trolls on the band's posts
I mean, this is a forum, everyone can express their opinions, but when the person starts to use it as a means to tell you that your opinion is wrong, we've reached a certain level of troll. And never did I, or anyone that I noticed (please correct me if I'm wrong, there is 151 pages of comments), tell anyone that they couldn't come in here and express their dislike. But when you continue to roll in with "this album is hot garbage" or whatever every time someone expresses their like for the album, it's just not conducive to a productive conversation and/or debate.
no its that every time someone says something like oh people just need to let it grow on them i feel the need to say actually ive tried to let it grow on me and that hasnt happened at all, its been the opposite
We've brought up valid points about why we dislike the album and they've consistently been ignored lol
That wasn't me calling you a troll, that was those comments that fill the band's social media posts that Spencer and Aaron keep responding to and the like
I want to hear so many of these new songs live. First tour date is in 3 days so we'll get that setlist soon I suppose.
The thing is people haven't been saying let it grow for a bit now, people are just listening to it. One person said something like "oh now everyone is starting to come around on it" but it was clearly hyperbole so I don't know why you had to jump on it.
If that's happened, I can understand the complaints. Hard to keep up with the amount of posts. I'll acknowledge that this is a 2 way street.
I feel like it doesn't need to get this heated lol... on both sides Some people are going to like an album, others won't. The world keeps turning.
My favorite quote from Spencer from that Upset article. "Making the same record over and over again, kids think they want that but if you hear a song or record that doesn’t leave you with questions, what’s the point? When you release something that’s super safe, and everyone’s happy, then you didn’t do anything. You wasted your time. It’s not about making people upset, but I want to be challenged."
I feel like people aren't telling people who don't like the album that it is a grower. They have just been saying that it has grown on them, which is different than saying "all you guys who hate it need to give it more chances."
This is probably the safest record they've done though, so I don't really agree with Spencer on that one
I think he meant safe as in sounding like Chasing Safety/Define The Great. Unsafe as in something Underoath wouldn't have put out years ago.
hot take musicians shouldn’t respond on twitter to negative criticism and shouldn’t make their entire feed retweeting positive opinions. don’t use twitter, actually, ever.
