I actually think the sequencing for this album is pretty flawless. Like, even if I don’t like Wake Me, I still think it’s placed in the right spot in the album.
Finally listened to this and ehhhhh not feeling it. Definitely better second half but this really isn’t my thing
Don't bring me into threads for bands that I highly dislike. Even if it is to discuss how awful most Targets are. Thank you.
You get to travel back in time to share one song that encapsulates Underoath's 2018 presence. Which song on Erase Me showcases their sound as a whole? Which song would you share?
Man, I'd want to say On My Teeth because it's their best, but nothing else on the album is like that. Probably what @Micah511 said.
I feel like I would want to get across that they are still Underoath but have radio ready choruses now. Those two songs execute that sound the best in my eyes.
Agreed. Not that they sound like ADTR at all, but Hold Your Breath reminded me of ADTR because the heavy verses and super poppy chorus sound like two different songs haha.
I would show them On My Teeth if I showed people in 2008 most of these songs they would call me a liar and not believe me that It’s Underoath.
Love the song, but the hate you'd get for trying to pass off this slow piano song as Underoath would be funny.
Uploaded this to their subreddit - but here's a clip of them opening with it from the Chicago secret show. It fit perfect as an opener. On My Teeth - Clip (Chicago, IL Secret Show) • r/Underoath
ugh, well, I hate to admit it, but my initial impressions of this being bad are pretty far off. It definitely grows on you. Very re-listenable too, it's not as exhausting of a listen as the rest of the post-TOCS stuff is. The production is also immaculate. It's huge when it should be, and the electronic flourishes all over the album all add something and never detract. I'm still not too fond of all the radio rock moments, but I like the other stuff enough to where it doesn't bother me at all anymore.
Hey remember when I compared their discography to Kanyes, and how this album is their Yeezus/808's and heartbreak, that would be initially disliked....
I Gave Up is so effing good. Took me a WHILE to come around to that one. Perfect ending song. Really wish I could figure out where to put Lonliness and Another Life in the track listing because they feel wrong just being tacked on at the end.
This has done the opposite of grow on me. I’ve given it a couple more shots and it’s just so bleh to me.
Same. It’s so familiar and has the right balance of the new sound. It’s the greatest song on the album and it’s a bonus.
