Would you have any inside info on pre-order numbers, or is that generally included with first-week sales?
If I didn't know this was an Underoath song, this part of "Bloodlust" literally sounds so much like Bring Me The Horizon/Oli to me: I wrote a letter that you'll never read I shed a tear that you'll never see I'm buried with these words that I never speak I have a darkness that you'll never see, oh!
Listening to the new Spencer’s episode on Lead Singer Syndrome and it’s great. The guys really wanted to do something new and challenging- which you gotta respect. I hope this record does wonders for them.
I've been spinning so much UO recently. This album got me curious to go back to TOCS/DTGL - both records I really wasn't into at the time they came out. I only really got into underoath with LITSOS, which along with Disambiguation are two of my favorite metal albums of all time. In retrospect I have no idea why high school me didn't dig the shit out of TOCS. That sound was so directly in my wheelhouse I have no idea why it didn't click with me. DTGL is now probably my least favorite of the Spencer era. Not that it's bad - it's grown on me the last two weeks - but TOCS is getting some nostalgia points for me lol. Anyway the new album is still not my favorite thing, but it's okay. To be completely honest if this was released by another band I wasn't as into I would probably forget about it fairly quickly. Because it's underoath I'll give it more repeat listens and see if it clicks.
The vocal effect towards the end of Sink With You is cool. I also love that the song just ends and then comes back in. The chorus for Hold Your Breath is also really great. However theres also songs here that I absolutely do not enjoy at all, especially Rapture and Wake Me. Theres just this sound to it that I can't describe but when I hear it on the radio I cringe. Still a pretty solid record overall.
Really like the two bonus tracks. Rise Against did the same thing on their latest, had two of their best songs as Best Buy bonus tracks and they were maybe the fastest and heaviest. I don't get it lol
Really enjoyed watching them write I Gave Up on the doc. This thing is growing on me every time I hear it, and it feels very nice to me that a band as big as anything for me in high school is relevant to me now, a couple terrestrial revolutions away from thirty.
I legitimately love that song now and I used to hate it. This is definitely a record that, over time, I will grow to love.
Same. I feel like it can debut in the top 10 easily, saw someone on twitter mentioned that they had crazy preorder for vinyl
Was at Target. They were playing the on my teeth video really loudly in the electronics department. Kinda cool
This album is awesome to run/workout with. Been listening to it for a week for workouts and it hasn't gotten old. I play around with On My Teeth as the first track and I think that gets me hyped more than It Has To Start Somewhere does.
I’m a really big fan of all the wah used on this record. It fits the songs perfectly. I don’t know if Erase Me is my favorite of the four records I was anticipating that came out on Friday but I find myself coming back to it the most.
The argument of "I would think this was really good if it was a sleepwave record, but not an underoath record," is ridiculous. That is putting a band in a box, styltistically, sonically, creatively, etc. The mental gymnastics you have to do to try and validate that argument...
Right. Forgot they coupled a copy of the album with tickets. Smart move on the label's part since a lot of bigger artists are doing this to get their numbers up.
