Also people for the people asking where the good guitar work is: Sink With You has a lot of solid guitar work on it!
I finally figured out what the to I Gave Up reminded me of... Rainbow Signs. It has that same build with that piercing guitar note sticking out. Probably why I love it so much
Really want to hear/get these bonus tracks as well. I preordered the record for like $50 so I would think they would have the bonus tracks available for download but nope. Sad day.
Ok....yeah....The two extra songs are awesome. I'm going to be another one of those people that say they should've been included in the album. Loneliness bangs and Another Life is a breath of fresh air for them. Heading to Target because I have to get turkey for turkey tacos tonight. Definitely picking up a copy of this album while I'm there.
"Loneliness" is another song that has solid verses and then some generic choruses with "Woooah-oh-ohhhh"s. It's definitely better than most of the songs on the album, though, and it features a lot more of Aaron than the other songs. As others have said, no idea why this didn't make the album. "Another Life" is similar in that I really like the verses, but super generic choruses with more "Woooaaah-ohh-ohhs" , but not as catchy as Loneliness's chorus imo. "Loneliness" is probably the heaviest out of the entire album.
"Loneliness" is a banger. Definitely should have been added. "Another Life" is just alright and I have no strong feelings about it.
I think the chorus for "Loneliness," works though. Idk if a catchy chorus is done in good taste, then I enjoy it. This song would be great live, but they probably won't play it live
Yeah, even on second listen, I do think it works pretty well within the context of the song. I think it's probably in my top 3 on this album. But really can't get into the choruses of Another Life at all.
I mean the guitars are there, just a bit lower in the mix than usual for Underoath. I haven't really had any issues with searching for guitars myself in the songs.
wow, loneliness might actually be the best track, i'm really surprised it's not on the album. another life is alright, i'd definitely take it over wake me.
Damn. Target was sold out of all the copies. Underoath section empty, The Wonder Years section completely full. Picked up TWY because why not? lol.
We’re talking about actual guitar work that Tim and James (nvm, he isn’t on this record) have shown on the previous albums, not just power chords. If you say that kind of guitar work is on here but you “have to listen closely” or it’s “behind everything else” then that’s part of the point I’m making. It should be upfront and actually memorable.
Same. Really excited to see what they can do to expand their sound. Feels like they could go in so many directions if they wanted to.
Good god, Loneliness is fucking fantastic. Nothing but pure stubbornness could have made them leave this off the album.
The more I listen to this, the good parts are really good. The lows are really bad for me, but if they go in the direction of some of the weirder parts on here and let the radio rock anthems stay here, I think the next album will be pretty exceptional.
