In Motion verses are a clusterfuck and the hook is boring as sin. That second part of the chorus where the bass sorta walks up the neck is not a thing this band pulls off well at all
It would be, but it's also a pretty solid record released under this band name as well... sleepwave doesn't have aaron's vocals on every track, and in some cases he really does add to the songs.
He's a brilliant song writer. You may not like the kinda songs he's written, but he's a song writing savant. Look at the hits and bands he's helped create and bring to rarefied air over the past two decades. That's something like a handful of people in the world can do.
First listen done, this has some really, really interesting parts. I think my first thoughts would be this would have made an insanely strong EP, but to me, some songs soar WAY higher than other parts of the album. Excited to see how this continues to sit with me. But right now, It Has To Start Somewhere, Sink With You, Hold Your Breath, No Frame, and In Motion are all must listen to bangers.
im actually really surprised they havn't leaked yet. of course they will leak tomorrow when I'm insanely busy
Spencer Chamberlain: How Losing Religion Saved Underoath "I'm at a point in life where I can happy and healthy and they really want us to be a metal band and a Christian band again? I would be dead by now. I would be miserable — and overdosed on drugs — and there wouldn't be an Underoath."
It’s official. I love this album. Strong 8/10 for me. I can’t wait to hear the bonus tracks. They will probably make the album stronger. Gonna stop by Target tomorrow and grab a copy. Happy listening everybody. Glad these dudes are back.
Check out No Frame and I Gave Up. They're the only songs I really liked when I first listened to the album and are definitely the ones I keep going back for. Still a rather imperfect album with a lot that I don't like, but most of the album has grown on me at this point. So, I definitely don't blame ya if you hate it lol
There were a couple of parts of songs that I liked but the overall songs I didn't like. This just isn't what I want Underoath to sound like. Oh well, I'm not mad like some people. Just disappointed.
First listen and a couple of random observations: I get real Smile Like You Mean It vibes from the lead synth on Wake Me, while the verses on Bloodlust (which I'm clicking with) wouldn't seem out of place on Mutemath's self-titled LP. EDIT: Hold Your Breath is the standout track by a mile.
Even though this isn’t a great album, it still feels good to know that Underoath is alive and releasing a new album tomorrow.
Listening to Erase Me and it still bangs for me. I’m even coming around to “Bloodlust”. Hoping my preorder comes in today!
