I think what is really doing it for me is Spencer’s fluxuations between screaming and singing. The balance intensifies the screaming when it’s done. So the breakdowns and more effective. That’s one of the things I don’t like about a song like Divine Eradication. There is no momentum pushing it forward and the screaming gets tiring for me. But there is so much fluxuation in these songs that push them forward. I hate to keep repeating myself, but this is my “going to work” album while Sister Cities is my coming home from work album currently.
I’m very surprised how much I’ve kept returning to this. I didn’t like it that much originally, but I’ve listened at least once per day since it leaked and it’s grown on me a ton
Man, I love "A Divine Eradication," such a brutal song. My only gripe with Disambiguation is that the drums don't stick out in the mix as much. The mix on "Erase Me," is amazing.
I often wish I could hear Tim more because some cool stuff goes under appreciated, but for a poppier album it’s such an assault on the ears. Needs to be blasted. Also Spencer’s screams are almost shrieking at some points and it’s insane. Ugh want more.
It just doesn't do anything for me. I just find it irritating, but I am glad that it speaks to you. I do like the drums on this album. I wish the guitar was standing out a little more.
The interviews have said they had about 30 songs written between the 4 of them...I'd love to hear what other songs they had to choose from for the record that they decided against. In episode 3 or 4 (where they are talking with Squire about how they have never done pre-production), they play a clip of this song and Spencer is singing "prove me wrong, prove me wrong," but it's not on the album. Wondering if that part will be in 1 of the 2 bonus tracks.
LOL. Yeah, I just listened to the first 4 songs and was like it's good but I don't love it... just like when the newest Saosin came out... and now I love that album. But honestly I hated Bloodlust on first listen and now I love it. So maybe the entire album will be like that.
I was convinced I didn’t like this. But I’ve listened multiple times everyday since I got it. Hold your breath Is prob my fav of the “singing heavy” tracks. He really sounds like cove when cove was on point.
Really bummed I’m missing the secret show. SubT downstairs is TINY. They’re basically playing on the floor.
Love the Lead Singer Syndrom podcast. Blasted this album in my car on the way to work today, and as "I Gave Up" goes insane after the second verse, and every hair on my body stood straight up, I realized I fucking love this album.
