At first listen it sounded like, "If I could turn back time I wouldn't change your fucking fate", which came off slightly less so. Then I read the lyrics
Please pick a LP song that sounds like 'On My Teeth' and show me. I still don't understand that comparison.
It’s more the hooks than anything I think. The way they use parallel phrasing and melody choices are more LP than the instrumental choices. I could be wrong tho
Yeaa I definitely hear an older linkin park sound to it , I mean it could just be the use of the electronics, more clean singing and more straightforward song structures as well. Also been seeing it get compared to bmth's sempiternal.
Relistening to On My Teeth and Rupture. My biggest complaint about On My Teeth is that the bridge doesn't really do much for me. Fortunately it's less than 30 seconds long. The rest of the song still rules.
I mean I guess I can hear some of that with the call/return between Spencer/Aaron. I dunno, just seems weird to me.
There are a ton of Linkin Park vibes in this, seems very obvious to me (and i consider that a good thing)
really not hard to hear hybrid theory and meteora's heavier songs here. i love both those albums tbh i wouldnt say this album is near as good as either.
I can get on board with that. I stopped listening to them after that, and those 2 albums I think really shaped my musical journey growing up.
Listen to Act of Depression, it's widely regarded as their best album around here. Spencer's sings just as much on it as he does Erase Me but the hooks are way better
As a huge LP fan, the comparisons are getting me a little hyped lol. HT and Meteora aren't their two best though. A Thousand Suns is their best for sure. I don't think they have a week album.
For anyone who's interested, it looks like that green with black splatter is mostly an fye exclusive and you can buy it here: Erase Me [Exclusive Acid Green with Black Splatter Vinyl] by Underoath - New on Vinyl | FYE
I can see the LP comparisons in some songs. I also think that "In Motion" sounds like it could easily fit on Mayday Parade's Monsters In The Closet if it had cleaner vocals and didn't have screams in the bridge
