You may dig these records. Also highly recommend you check out the most recent EP by Diptera and Pariah’s Here From Where We Are (the latter is more ambient but definitely falls under that vibe).
Sweet, cheers. Wasn't too keen on the Pariah album. I was such a big fan of his older stuff and Karenn releases with Blawan. That album was just a little too chilled for me.
Been meaning to check that out. It’s on Lee Gamble’s label and that’s put out some great shit so far. Especially that Zuli album from last year.
always hard for me to decide if I should post Channel Tres in here or the hip hop thread but this is another great one
Yeah figured there would be more interest in here for this sound. New one doesn't touch Jet Black but still fantastic. Dude seems on the verge of breaking out in a huge way this year. He's on tour with Robyn rn and opening for Vince Staples soon.
Highly rec'd. Hard to describe but it's dreamy, dubby, heavy with samples that give off r&b/dancehall vibes. Also this is supposed to be really good too. Have to check it out in a bit.
Anybody check this out yet? Pitchfork gave it an 8.4 BNM. There's very little information out there beyond this review and its contents. Apparently a duo, one the guys has been releasing music since around 2011, the other released some kind of synth-pop album last year. This is their second record and one of the members is also the co-founder of their label, Jolly Discs. The sound is somewhere between the electronic side of 80s post-punk (New Order, etc.) and the moody textures of Burial. Anyways, I checked it last night and it completely floored me.
Forgot about this until today but glad I finally checked it out, on top of the two you mentioned I'm really feeling Trainfilters and MLL, great album
New Peggy Gou! She started her own label and is releasing a two-track EP on April 19. This is the A-Side.
