I am terrible at keeping track of this thread, but I dig the Madcat, Peggy Gou, and Benjamin Damage tracks from the past couple pages. @Joel sorry it took me so long to check it out but I'm about 10 mins into your new mix and I am a big fan! You gotta do the d/l option on Soundcloud so I can take this shit on the go ;)
Nothing to be sorry for! It just aired on local radio today and I'm about to put it up for dl, thanks so much for listening bud! Normally I play more fun stuff but I wanted to do a bummer first haha I'll post more shit here time to time
No reason I haven't posted in here until now. I guess the number of pages intimidated me at first, but I listen to a ton of this music. I suppose there is a lot of overlap with this and the Ambient thread, which I post in all the time (check that thread out too!) Anyway, this came out recently and it's excellent also a lesser known release ive always dug:
haha it's just such an open ended topic that there is a lot of sub genres to post about, welcome aboard! Holy Other is great and Ill check out the other ting Need to hear that Blawan record, his recent output has been intimidating in its coldness but I'm excited to see what he does with an LP
While he sounds nothing like this anymore, the couple chances I've had to play this have been a fuckin riot
Ended up listening to the whole thing, thought I was just gonna listen to a little bit and go to bed haha, but yeah it’s great
i did a beat thing not really dance music but definitely electronic music. this mix spans over the the past 10 years of beats, most of which from the LA scene.
So Cashmere Cat plated 2 SOPHIE songs at his MoMA set tonight, and has an unannounced special guest at his show tonight. I’m very causciously exited
Yeah! SOPHIE ended up being the special guest! It was insane, Cashmere came out for ~20 min, then gave her stage so we got like a 20 min SOPHIE set, then Cashmere came back on to finish the set. I was so stoked and SOPHIE's set was beautiful. I hope I can hear what she was playing at the end of the set again somehow because it sounded like a cheesy 80's pop song that, as usual, was repurposed for the year 2055
Gah, I’m so excited to see SOPHIE again. How was Cashmere Cat? Last time I saw him it was pretty awful (I’m a fan of his stuff though)
His MoMA PS1 set was...not that great until the last 15 minutes. He had issues with the boards since some moisture was messing the circuitry apparently, and he had to vary the set to deal with the issues. His Elsewhere set though? Great until SOPHIE went on, then absolutely destroyed the second half. It was a much more fluid and engrossing set. I haven't seen too many "dance" shows yet, but I came away thoroughly impressed towards the end. Definitely going to more now.
That’s awesome. I’ve seen him twice - once headlining with SOPHIE as opener and once opening for MØ. He was solid the first time but I didn’t stick around for the whole set, but his set opening for MØ was a disaster. His mixing was so off, couldn’t keep any rhythm or vibe going. Glad you didn’t have the same experience.
