    Was Leon Vynehall this year?

I really like the Bicep record.

Favorite is probably Sw. or DJ Sports though. New Folamour needs to grow on me a bit, but it’s good

Vynehall was last year! I felt the same way about Folamour for a while but now that I have the proper quality in digi it's opened up and is among my very favorites, along with Bicep and Sports. Great picks

I'll post my list when I'm by my computer

dance music generally excels in singles and EPs, but these are the long players that I like this year (electronic is very vague so while I was looking, stipulation was that atleast a couple tracks would be functional on a dancefloor)

    Bicep - S/T
    Blanck Mass - World Eater
    Daphni - Joli Mai
    DJ Python - Dulce Compania
DJ Seinfeld - Time Spent Away From U
    DJ Sports - Modern Species
    Doc Daneeka - Walk Man
    Folamour - Umami
    Four Tet - New Energy
    Harvey Sutherland - Expectations
    Iglooghost - New Wax Bloom
Laurence Guy - Saw You For the First Time
    Nicholas - Lonnie's Reprise
Octo Octa - Where Are We Going?
Ross From Friends - The Outsiders
    Shigeto - The New Monday

I still need to hear a few, that Honey Dijon record you mentioned earlier being one

a singles list seems way too daunting, but I'll probably do a mass post of tracks from this year I am thankful to have been able to play for people on a dancefloor at some point

There's obviously a lot I need to hear on this list, but what I've heard is dope.

And yes, you should check that Honey Dijon record. It's a little lengthy for my taste/recent listening habits, but on a track by track basis it's tight.

Also, did you ever check that Laurel Halo record? Probably my favorite to fall under the umbrella, unless we throw Arca into the mix. Both are a little more abstract though, obviously.

@Joel that 2017 mastermix is super good, I am vibing hard to it right now. I know I know what you said earlier, but any LPs in this vein that you would recommend? This is absolutely sick.

honestly, the best thing about dance music is that early house and disco hasn't aged a fucking bit but most people that chase that sound fail entirely. It's great because as an enthusiast I have three decades of music to sift through but I'm not sure there are any recent albums that capture the spirit of what you're listening to! Honestly so glad you are liking it though, will think on it and get back to you! Most good dance music comes out on EPs which makes it all the more impenetrable

Edit: YO listen to Marquis Hawkes - Social Housing

Makes sense! What are some of your favorite older dance albums?

Even then, most of the greats didn't put out albums! The culture was so constantly changing that they'd press a couple songs to wax to get something new into the clubs. Albums weren't common then, they'd release a few 12"s a year to feed DJs instead of making album statements.

    Mood II Swing
    Todd Terry
    Marshall Jefferson
    Kerri Chandler
    Glenn Underground
    Masters At Work

All great places to start, letting the YouTube algorithm take you from there is what worked for me.
I'll hit you a bunch of new artists later if you're so inclined

    big up @StepsInADance
I listened to the LP last night for the first time on their recommendation, when I see L.I.E.S and "techno" together I usually get intimidated, but this was a great listen. will have to check the EP, I saw RA raving about it as well

I’ll have to check the LP! I’ve been in a mood for dance-y stuff the last few days. Checked the DB1 and Equiknoxx LPs last night too and they’re both pretty incredible too.
