@brandon_260 thanks for that, I've always meant to listen to her stuff but never have also ITS KOZE SEASON FUCKKKKK ignore the fashion video but sound tracking it is the first taste from his upcoming album and goddamn it sounds incredible
PSA: if you haven't listened to the Ross From Friends record yet, do it! came out on Lone's label, and while it often gets lumped in with lo-fi house it's a lot more than that and could see it appealing to a bunch of people in here
been out of the loop for a bit and revisiting the rashad discog, naturally. i don't know why i don't hear this played out more. its got so much energy. maybe too much?
this might be the first time a dance record is my AOTY since Glass Swords. it's so obvious that he made this after a difficult breakup, it's so... unabashedly emotional but channeled through house nostalgia. I read that he loves Robin S - Show Me Love which is my favorite house song of all time and it's so clear that he put his pain into a sound like that - euphoric but dusty and raw in the way that people fantasize about an era they couldn't have been a part of. It captures the same feeling but with a world worn aesthetic, like hearing an old house anthem while knowing you couldn't have been there and your imagined associations with it are just that. Don't really know how to describe it, but there's this feeling of trying to recapture this utopic idea of club music while funneled through a human fragility - these songs sound like bangers than have been collecting dust and gotten sad. Everything I'd hoped for, one of few house full lengths that haven't let me down
Just listened to the first two tracks and they are great. Love your description of it. I’ll have to check the whole thing out tomorrow.
That's fantastic haha. I fully understand house music isn't for everybody but, in the same way Burial exposed a lot of people to garage and dubstep, I could see this being a bridge for people that like outsider electronic shit. Definitely recommend giving it a shot! (Inbox)
yes fam I woke up early and was like "sorry hon gotta run out for a walk" and she was like "you're going to listen to that DJ Seinfeld record aren't you" #caughtcheatin
Chiming in to say the DJ Seinfeld record is unreal. He gets so much emotion out of those vocal samples, I love it.
i haven't immersed myself in dj seinfeld's discog yet but he is doing a 14hr long bushwick a/v event this weekend that i want to check out. yaeji this weekend too. and traxman. fuck shigeto is tonight.
Got to see Shigeto last night (Won free tix), but why does life have to have these difficult choices: Hot Chip DJ Set vs Boys Noize DJ Set on Friday Kornel Kovacs (Free) vs DJ Seinfeld on Saturday Whyyyyyyy
