I'm a couple tracks into this and it's super good so far. Definitely some tropical and deep house influences. @brandon_260 @Joel looking at you here (and anyone else)
It's a beautiful record! I have a vinyl rip from last year but totally forgot about the digi, need to grab
Oh and @sophos34 that track was really cool, great work! Love the kinda trance-y higher melody, v much in line with some of the deconstructed club stuff we like but with a more tangible driving beat
Thank you!!! I immediately used that sound when I came across it because it reminds me a ton of one of the leads on Kastle's Polytopia EP which I still listen to constantly haha
Got to check out SOPHIE and Jacques at Saturday's Warmup, and this Sat is Laurel Halo DJing and Jlin I might have to try to also make the Daphni one in August
This is a wild line up of shows. Evian Christ, Yves Tumor, Moor Mother, Ferg too. Crazy. Speaking of Laurel Halo DISCWOMAN 27 x Laurel Halo – Discwoman
Unless I'm blanking, Laurence Guy is my favorite house LP so far this year. Perfect balance of jazzy dance floor jams and really pretty ambient bits - great for a sunny afternoon
Listened more today and agreed, such a unique selection. I've been busy prepping for tomorrow but Dust is my first priority once that all settles. Excited to let you know what I think! That being said, have you heard her first LP Quarantine? Such a beguiling record and I think you'd love it if you haven't
I have a feeling from what I've heart Dust is the best of the three, but I found Chance of Rain almost like a rebellion to Quarantine. Her voice was so upfront and oddly mechanized on it that I feel like she retreated into her synths on LP2. Can't recommend Quarantine enough though, one of my favorite records of all time and was a real gateway for me to more experimental stuff when it came out. I have a feeling you will be especially into it. I was 19 when it came out and only knew Hypderub through Burial. Had just left hardcore and didn't know stuff like this was possible sonically but was instantly captivated
Yeah, that lack of human element on Chance of Rain is what has made it harder for me to get into. I'm super excited to check out Quarantine now.
