National Board of Review gave Sandler best actor. I'm kinda rooting for this to boost his oscar nom chances. This year is so stacked in the best actor categories it will be tough.

No SAG award noms either...looking very unlikely Sandler gets an Oscar nom.

 

Can't wait to see this. Sandler was my favorite actor growing up and it bummed me out to see what kind of actor he became. I'm hoping this kick starts a streak of good/serious movies going forward.

What do people think of Mr. Deeds? I think for a lot of people, that marked the beginning of the end but I think that movie is highly underrated.

He’s all but a lock for the Oscar nom. Only reason he wasn’t nominated for a Golden Globe is because the Safdie Bros changed the category from comedy to drama at the final hour - which crippled his chances at a nomination. I hate the HFPA so much

 

he’s hardly a lock. he isn’t picking up these early noms and gold derby prognosticators had him 8th before the globes or SAG was even announced. it’s more likely he doesn’t get nominated than he does, let alone him being a lock or whatever lol

 

reminder that just bc you like a movie or performance a lot doesn’t mean that it’s by any means a lock

 

Explain the National Board of Review hand-selecting him as the best actor for Uncut Gems, as well as his Gotham Independent Film Award nomination. I don’t just say shit just to say it like a lot of people in these threads. I know my shit. Trust me, he’s getting the nomination.

Not to mention I already explained why he missed the Golden Globes nom. Had it stayed in the comedy category then we wouldn’t even be having this discussion.
