After Hours is underrated Scorsese, I wish Griffin Dunne was in more movies. In retrospect it doesn’t exactly fall into the Scorsese template of movies but I always see it as a tribute to the city at the time
I just watched After Hours after seeing it mentioned here and holy shit that movie rules. Definitely feels like a more acid fried version of Good Time
I covered this movie for my podcast this week. A near two hour episode that I’m really damn proud of.. The Film Effect Podcast: Uncut Gems (2019) on Apple Podcasts Uncut Gems (2019) - The Film Effect Podcast
Dude, I love this movie. The opening and closing sequences alone are worth the price of admission. The soundtrack by Daniel Lopatin was great and I loved the Weekend's sort of cameo in this. Some of my favorite scenes in this film are just small moments where we're followong a character and the soundtrack is just doing its thing. It's almost mesmerizing. The ending was really poetic and couldn't have been executed more perfectly. I'll be watching Good Time soon as well since it's on Netflix.
hope this and soggy bottom don't postpone his directing. or, if they do, that josh directs solo. but it'll be cool to see him blow up a bit
